I have sympathy for some of the people working there or who are owed money but I must say it is about time clubs run as badly as they were for years were allowed to go bust. Many clubs are paying players crazy wages that bear no relation to their income and this is distorting and ruining the game. It is also rather interesting that the current flavour of the month manager hotly tipped for England was managing the club during part of this period. What message will that send to others if he gets the England job? On a purely practical level any club going bust should not be able to restart in the Football League. If this were to happen, what consequences might it have in terms of an extra promotion place from the leagues below? I do sometimes moan about the tight purse string at our club but we have a viable long term club that is doing well and playing good football. I think we could comfortably manage at League 1 level and, if we do go up, I hope Turner will do a Ferguson and delay his retirement for a few years. He has always been a great manager and I hope we never see the day when the team starts to struggle under him and the fans forget the enormous contribution he has made to our club.
Works in our favour then, as we'd have a large chance of going up then. But a crying shame that all these foregin owners don't seem to give a monkey's about an age-old English club. As usual, it's the fans who will suffer. Good luck AFC Pompey!
