Brogues I'm more of a £6 pair of plimmies from Primani sort of guy... that way if they get wrecked I don't give a ****. My problem is that if I spend a lot on a nice pair of treads I won't wear them anywhere for fear of trashing them... I've got a few pairs of £60+ shoes that I've only worn about 3 times in 4/5 years
We are staying at the university lewis hotel right on the northern point of lake Windermere, just outside ambleside. Got loads of maps n stuff of walks but if you have a couple of special ones let me know. Weather supposed to be canny next week and we are booked in for golf at Windermere golf club. Some spectacular views from up there. Roll on Wed, leaving at 5.00 and hope to be there for about 11.30 traffic permitting, mainly depends how many times the wife needs to Pisa
6 and a half hours to get here what are you driving a penny farthing I don't know how far you like to walk but the Kentmere round is great also you can do the half round as well if you don't wan't to go to far if you do this one you shoule call into a farm called Maggs Howe at the top of the valley Christine will look after you there and the views from her farm is amazing for a night walk we usually do Brant fell or the Crook round down in the Winster valley and then go for dinner I would recommend the Masons Arms at Strawberry bank or the Wheatsheaf at Brigsteer both cracking pubs have the ribs or the ham shank at the Masons if you fancy a nice lunch there is no where better than the Two Sisters at the Gateway inn ( Plumbgarths ) anyway you have probably been to all of these so good luck where ever you choose.
I was waiting for that had a feeling you would be first Christine is the farmers wife and she runs her house as a cafe and if she is in its open when i have visitors I always give her a bell and she will have a full English waiting for us for when we arrive and then we walk the fells near her home she will make you a pack up to eat up the top of Kentmere where you can look down over Hawes water its magic mate I still feel like I am on holiday and I have lived here 17 years now.
Cheers Rooch, ill have a look at these tonight. Got all my **** ready for the trip and cant wait to get away from all this crap going on around here right now.
When people patronise you about parenting, like you couldn't imagine how it feels to have less sleep and waking up at 3am. "Wait and see, you can't imagine how hard it is"... yes, I can, it's easy to imagine and I'll be just fine, like the other 300 trillion parents have been before me.
Even worse are patronising travellers... "You've never seen somewhere so beautiful/picturesque/fascinating in your life". Mate you went to Bali and didn't step foot off the beaten track, you ****ing tourist. Thanks for putting the 3,200 pictures up on facebook though, it'll give me something to bore myself to sleep with, looking at you and your cumdump of a wife sitting on an elephant, how cliche. EVEN WORSE... are patronising restaurant goers... "You've never tasted food like it, I've been there, I've been 30 times, and there's a better one, and one better than that, I've been to every restaurant ever, before you, I eat 9 times a day"... JUST ****OFF TO DIGNITAS YOU ****!!!
