Haha that's the part of town where I will be. There are three Thai restaurants near the cinema, Thai gallery is the best one. I may well be in a place called Bindles near the cinema opposite the motorbike showroom. Also a place opposite the cinema called the hand in glove. Look out for a bald/ bearded ****. May be in tweed.
Watched the new Oldboy last night. Glad it stuck fairly close to the original but it doesn't have the same edge. I almost thought he was gonna ruin the corridor scene but it was still good, although a lot less believable. The boy from District 9's acting was quite ****e in it as well.
I dunno what Spike Lee was thinking when he cast him as a European character. Broad South Afriikan is not exactly a easy accent to mask. Anyway, the film is getting panned by people on IMDb. Guess I'm not the only person calling it ****e.
He was good in District 9 but every time i've seen him since he's been guilty of overacting beyond belief. A bit like Kate Beckinsdale in the remake of Total Recall, just not a good baddie.
Watched There will be blood last night with the better half who have hadn't seen it before . Good film this I said when it started . When it finished she's like "well thanks for that" Didn't you enjoy it then Daniel Day Lewis won an oscar for that performance says I Didn't say it wasn't good acting but it was a slow dirty horrible film . Damn fine critic my missus .
12 years a slave: Hmm, did I miss something? The critics loved this but I was left distinctly underwhelmed. The story is fragmentary, jumps bacwards and forwards in time for no good reason and spends lots of time showing the lovely scenery. The biggest problem is there is no real explanation as to why the hero was sold into slavery in the first place. I kept waiting for something to happen and nothing of note did. If you want to see a good film about slavery (and who does'nt?) then don't waste your time watching this, watch Django Unchained (again?). Average, very average.
Odd Thomas I'm a big fan of Dean Koontz so when I heard a few years back that Steven Sommers was making a film adaptation of the first of his Odd Thomas books I was looking forward to watching it . Unfortunately the movie got shelved after completion due to some **** suing some other **** . There has been a DVD rip available for some time though and I watched it for the second time tonight . It's a shame this film never got a cinema release because it really is very good . It is pretty faithful to the book too . I think they are giving it a limited release in the states and then putting it out on DVD . Here's hoping this ****uppery doesn't stop them msking more of the series .
Wake in Fright Mad, cult Australian film from the 1970s with Donald Pleasance. It's on at certain cinemas and I would highly recommend it. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0067541/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_140
Watched Filth last night (nothing new there huh). I found it amusing, even with the differences from the book. Jim Broadbent in particular.
I take it by what you posted on the GC forum that you failed to realise that Mr Broadbent was the directors vision of the tapeworm ? Apart from that it's pretty similar to the book . I thought it was a decent film and James Mcavoy was excellent in it .
I was more meaning the dog scene and the Amsterdam/Berlin issue (that really was needless) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u8HmwP9vy14
