    Gervinho, Ramsey, Djourou, Squillaci & Chamakh would have something to say about that. We're not the old Arsenal. Some of you live in the past.

    Except it is. You don't play for a Top four team without being a good player.

    As for Squillaci and Chamakh, we've been trying to ship them out.
    Which again tells you about the required standard to play for Arsenal.

    Really? Look at Rosicky's performance Olympiakos. Fresh back from injury, he ran the show for 45mins. He drives forwards, has good vision, great touch. When has Ramsey EVER taken the game and run it on his own? Rosicky has had his problems, but he's still a class player. He's light years ahead of Ramsey at present. Clearly he will go downhill & Ramsey will improve, but at present, there's absolutely no contest.

    Why are we still playing Ramsey and Gervinho then? We trying to ship them out too?

    I wouldn't sell Ramsey, with another midfield addition he's good enough as a third choice player, as long as he plays in his proper position and theres still time for improvement.

    Gervinho can go

    Personally i would keep both Ramsey and Gervinho. Although i've been saying Ramsey shouldn't be playing, he is still young and has the talent to hopefully bounce back. I'm thinking it's more a confidence thing to. Also he hasn't been as dreadful as some people are saying.

    I was talking in the context of defense, not overall.

    Gervinho helped Lille win the league in his last season there, and made the Ligue 1 Team of the Year in 2010-11;
    Ramsey almost signed for Man Utd before he went to Arsenal;
    Djourou has 38 caps for Switzerland;
    Squillaci has played in a Champion's League final;
    Chamakh was the joint top scorer for Bordeaux when they last won the league and has .

    They're all in **** form for Arsenal, and chances are that most of them will be moved on soon. They're still good footballers.

    I remember people saying the same things about Walcott. 'He's ****' 'Not Arsenal quality' 'All he's got is pace' 'He's got no football brain' etc etc. And now when it looks like we might lose him, everybody sees what he brings to the team.

    I thinks that's more because he's nowhere near the quality of the players you had between ten years ago, and yet he's still one of the best of a current bad bunch.

    The only thing it proves is that AFC fans no longer have the expectations they once did, and that it's been that long since they saw a decent side that they haven't even realised their own standards - like those of the manager and the board - have dropped accordingly.

    Respectfully, I disagree.

    Whilst the team at the moment isn't as good as the invincibles team, the first XI are still a very decent side. It's the strength through the squad that needs some improvement. That's where it's cost us over the last few seasons. We've had a good side when everybody is fit, but fallen short over the course of the season.

    I can only speak for myself, but I haven't lowered my expectations. I have a realism about what we can achieve this season compared to the obscene amounts of cash that have propelled City and Chelsea to the summit, but I truly believe that Arsenal are turning a corner this season. We have just signed up a core of British players to build the squad around and we have assurances from the board that we will be able to invest proper money in the squad.

    <laugh><laugh> Very amusing.

    Why don't you look at their actual ability, instead of stats, appearances, etc? Technically they're all very bad. That's makes you a poor footballer. Man, gooners don't know quality these days. A lot of them live in denial.

    In hindsight, we really should have let ManUre waste their money on Ramsey.

    Yes, because we knew when we brought him that he would get his leg snapped in two by some dickhead from Stoke. Ramsey was chased by all those top clubs for a reason, he was a brilliant talent. Sadly for him, he has not been the same player since that day in Stoke.

    He wasn't that great before the injury. He was just another prospect. He needs a mentor, someone to make him awesome. Maybe Jack could take him under his wing?

    Maybe Ronaldo could teach Gervinho how to play football too? <laugh>

    I think gervinho needs someone to teach him to run, baby steps and all that. He looks like a blind gazelle out there sometimes.
