Queen had a few really good songs, but for me Deep Purple hit the peaks - Highway Star or Child in Time are about as good as they can be.

Saw them live once in the 1970's. I loved them especially Machine Head album but live they stunk. Too obsessed with long solos whilst the rest of the band had a drink up on the side of the stage. Biggest disappointment I ve seen live.

I saw them in the Arena about 15 years ago. My only complaint was that they didn't do Child in Time - apparently they retired that song years earlier as Ian Gillan's vocal range had gone.

Saw them 5 years ago in Belgium and it was a bunch of grandads endlessly noodling with keyboard and guitar solos, just painful to watch.

You obviously never watched Newcastle during the Ashley years.

Odd title that! I wonder what he meant by “or urban spaceman or the protest song”?
