Personally, I see him as a long term replacement for Gerrard. He's versatile as he can play along the front three, AM, CM and even DM. He is similar to Gerrard in that he can carry the ball from midfield and drive into the opponent's box. Plays with vision and intelligence but he's a different style of AM to Coutinho - Coutinho plays those clever through balls and his short passsing is his main strength. Mkhi is more direct and likes to run with the ball but also technically gifted. I know Gez has been comparing Eriksen and Mkhi - I would say Eriksen has more potential but is a little inconsistent (understandable given his age). Mkhi is more experienced/mature which I think is what we need at the moment. The two play similar positions but have different styles - Eriksen is more like Coutinho which is why I think we're going fro Mkhi as he is more like Gerrard.
I've not been comparing them. I've just stating which I'd prefer, especially considering their costs. Plus, I've actually side get both a couple of times (jokingly of course)
Maybe we have approached him, just not through Shakhtar yet? http://www1.skysports.com/football/...ool-yet-to-make-a-move-for-Henrikh-Mkhitaryan
The 24-year-old is a target for Brendan Rodgers and was thought to be close to a move to Anfield, but the Ukrainian outfit are unaware of the playmaker's current whereabouts. He missed pre-season. Source:http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2892...mkhitaryan-fails-to-attend-pre-season?ICID=OP
Liverpool target Henrikh Mkhitaryan the subject of a £19.5m bid from Borussia Dortmund Source:http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/footb...-transfers-henrikh-mkhitaryan-subject-1999600 Borussia Dortmund have made an offer of £19.5million for Liverpool target Henrikh Mkhitaryan - but his club want £25m. The day after admitting they don't know where their star man is , Shakhtar Donetsk have announced a bid has been received from the German side. The Ukrainians have not confirmed any such bid from Brendan Rodgers' Reds. Shakhtar's chief executive Sergei Palkin told Terrikon: “I don’t know where Mkhitaryan is, now; solely his agent knows this. "Borussia offered $30m (£19.5m) for the midfielder. I contacted Mkhitaryan’s agent yesterday. I wrote to him about the official position of the club. "We are prepared to sell Mkhitaryan for €30m (£25m). This offer stands for the next 10 days. If Mkhitaryan wishes to leave, they have to pay this amount for him." After failing to report for training at Shakhtar, a photo claiming to show the Mkhitaryan checking in to a London hotel appeared online on Tuesday evening. The image fueled speculation that the 24-year-old was on his way to Liverpool, but regardless of its authenticity, it is certain they now face competition for his signature from Jurgen Klopp's team.
Really hope we bring this guy in. Can see us having a very strong first 11 and a competitive squad if we get him.
