This may be a harsh example, but for me his positioning is shocking: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KRZhgaCDSwo&feature=related He also cost them against Carlisle in the last minutes with bad decision making putting him in no mans land, making it an easy decision for the attacker. Smithies put them a goal down to Colchester a few weeks back when his attempted kick was blocked and rebounded into the goal, although he did save a penalty. I also believe he let in a weak shot at Bournemouth on Monday which was straight at him. Overall he wouldn't fill me with confidence and he showed as a 17 year old (i think) that he couldn't cope on the big stage when the mighty whites fired 4 past him. Even the Huddersfield fans i know want the reliable yet 40 year old Bennett back in goal.
Yip, broken arm (twice) & knee op. Bit unfortunate, but not persistent injuries. Lost his 1st team place for most of last 2 years. Long shot, but perhaps worth a punt.
Andy Johnson from Fulham, out of contract in summer. Again, injury prone but beggars can't be choosers. Played under Warnock at Palace. If he stayed injury free for a season he'd be a real asset in this division. Four strikers needed to rotate, McCormack, AJ, Somma and maybe try and prise Kevin Davies from Bolton for a nominal fee.
Do bare in mind Becchio's scored 10 goals in only 24 starts, and that's in a bad season. Johnson or Davies would be fantastic.
"Johnson or Davies would be fantastic." That's usually when you realise that whoever came up with the idea/suggestion that they are probably deluding themselves with Bates in charge. When trying to predict Leeds Utd's signings try to think of a player you would sign if you were a club trying to avoid relegation. With that in mind how about James Coppinger?
Would have to be virtually guaranteed a starting position to pry him loose form Reading, therefore Lonergan would have to be sold
Is it not a strong probability that Paddy Kenny's going to be joining us? I'm sure I read he's not been getting on with Hughes.
We will need more Defensive Midfielders if we are going to keep using so much bite: Paul Scharner - West Brom - Free Agent Owen Hargreaves - Manchester City - Free Agent Michael Johnson - Leicester City - Nominal Fee Keith Andrews - West Bromwich Albion - Free Agent Alan Smith - Newcastle - Free Agent (note: just an option - lets not over talk about him) Christian Poulsen - Ex Liverpool - Free Agent Eric Djemba-Djemba - Ex Villa - Free Agent Grant Leadbitter - Ipswich - Free Agent My personal favorite free DM: Gennaro Gattuso - AC Milan - Free Agent
Michael Johnson doesnt play for us. He plays for Man City, we had him on loan but no one has seen or heard from him since Sven left. But officially he is still on loan here but we wont see him again. When we did see him he looked decent on the ball but slow, injury prone and not very mobile
