NNW - no-one would criticise you - giving money to support a cause is always a very personal issue and we each I am sure have causes we would and would not support. However fro my perspective sponsoring a player is like a "one-off" whereas if we lost the Academy it would cost us far more. I agree that BAz and co are the ones who should be keeping it alive but if it were a case of "we are going to close the Academy as we have insufficient money to keep it open" then I would want to try to find a way - even if only through the fans to keep it open - I think it is very valuable.
All of this talk really does take us back to Mr. B and his plans. Until he makes a few promises that he can be held to, nobody will know for sure exactly what is needed.
i do agree with you Leonardo...(i wish there was a 'like' feature! lol)... But you're also right, that causes are very personal so would not judge anyone who didn't want to put towards this one. I guess we just need to see what will happen in the coming months, and if necessary, i don't mind popping down there to find out what's needed...not that i'd have a clue who to ask lol
Good luck on that one frenchie , I am starting to believe I have more chance of platting fog than getting a straight answer from Mr B
Hornette watford 606 exiles ambassador, on a mission to fact find about the academy So I guess the main question is Is the academy financially safe! If not what is the best way we can help! Cmon guys other questions about the academy that you would like answered!
If fans were to offer help - would the club prefer we sponsor young lads individually or the "bricks and mortar" (i.e. ongoing costs? )
Doubt it would be possible to sponsor the bricks and mortar: http://www.theharefieldacademy.org/page_viewer.asp?page=Our Sponsors&pid=40 That said, if we were to sponsor players, presumably it would be the same difference anyway. I mean, the money would still go towards the academy's running costs, right?
