Real shame we will lose Danny , what a top bloke! Micheal Bryan is a nice lad as well! Matty whicelow is hilarious! Dales a good lad when he loosens up The tight knit community amongst them all is obviously apparent! and MM was never going to burnley!
You need to elaborate on the Academy though as that would be a disaster - given we will always have to sell players - we need some coming through
I wouldnt be so sure the academy is struggling to secure the funding it needs and Neil Price said it was desperately needing new sponsorship!
That would be a cause worht raising money for - did you see Wrexham fans raised ã200k to pay the Revenue and postpone Admin
Me too - wonder if someone suggested it to the Watty Obs they could take it up and try to raise cash through their readership etc?
Maybe we should start here! i always think if we could get ã20 from every season ticket holder that's already ã220,000 and some might give more, and people who don't have season tickets might want to give...and we could soon be up to half a million..if only we could get everyone to cough up!
New sponsorship? Who sponsors them currently then? When Norway gets back within range, I would like to know how GT and Mr.B react to each other.
I would be more than happy to do something to help, but first of all I want to know that Mr. B is going to do his bit. Until he comes out and is straight with the fans about the plans that will make us happy, then I await the details of how he will be financing the club.
we've already got a few quid then ....but you're right M Frenchie, we should see what Mr B has up his sleeve first i suppose...makes sense
I wouldn't give a penny. The whole point of the academy is that we were supposed to endure five or six years of financial pain while players come through the ranks, and from then on it should at worst break even and provide all the young talent we could possibly need, at best produce one or two Ashley Youngs over and above that per decade, enabling us to genuinely compete financially at this level. Our revenue is stabilising at the ã9-10m mark, and the academy costs ã1m. Even if wage budgets are 50% more than what Ray Lewington had in his last season, we should comfortably be able to afford that. EDIT: Before someone criticises me for that, I should clarify that I'm talking about the fans being forced to fund-raise to keep the academy open. I would definitely consider sponsoring a player if I had the means. That is a sensible, long term strategy to keep the club on a steady footing.
Maybe we can sell a few cows and sheep? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-south-scotland-13236793
Apparently local business and fans and a large chunk from the club !It is the large chunk I think Mr B wants in his pocket! If people here want to form a group to make a contribution,I would sell a motor bike and give the money from that! Maybe someone local to the academy could pop down one day and see what is happening and whether we can help and if so how?
Last season I received a letter asking to support the academy and I sent off a cheque. But this season, there has been no request - so it seems a little disorganised by the club. Perhaps they should consider bringing in a similar player sponsorship scheme or a complimentary one - sponsor a first team player and then sponsor an academy player for an extra ã50?
Some one more local needs to go down in person and ask a couple of questions! I will send an email , however the personal touch is needed here!
