Vetch I won't spend the Money on cars these days like I used to, but I do fancy the new MX5 MK III, with the hard top that folds auto into the boot, my current MX5 I've had 8 years, the longest I've ever kept a car, but it's been such a reliable little beauty (1.8 RS, 140 BHP, Bilstien shocks standard from the factory, Air Con, Bose sound system) I'm reluctant to let it go! This is a picture of the TR6 I imported from Missouri, USA after I had restored the vehicle!........ please log in to view this image
Did a cracking job on that Phil. I want to get an old Mini Cooper to do up. Fella down the road from me has two, and the bugger won't sell me one.
Never this is how it was before paint and rebuild with new parts from Rimmer Bros, also old USA plate I still have, it was found in a field, had been dumped, the inside was burt out by sun ........... please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
Dragon,my MX is the model "with the hard top that folds auto into boot". It takes about 9 seconds, and never fails to impress me. It's a 2012 first reg.,so I assume it's the MK111 that you refer to. Air con;Bose sound system;leather heated seats, and that came in very handy during the recent cold snap. Mazda were offering a tidy 20% disc,on 2,000 cars nationwide, but you had to go via Facebook, and obtain a special number that enabled the Dealer to discount the car.I was no.1,960,so just made it. I was easily seduced after a test drive around Morriston. A bit extravagant, but hey,I'm really worth it.
I was gutted when I had to sell (Babies on the way) but I made a fair packet on it, it stood me £6500, when finished, but sold it to a Classic Car dealer in Fulham for £13700, he was selling them at the time for £15 to £18K, it's one of the only times I've made money on a vehicle! It was painted in Triumph Brooklands green, and the interior was finished with a Walnut dash, green carpeting and chestnut brown leather upholstery............. please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
I have a Nissan Qashqai N-tec with all the extra bits. Nice family car all very shiny and technical with reverse camera, massive glass roof and roof bars, 19" alloys and integrated sat nav, but what I really want is an Aston Martin DBS Volante .
I just remembered buying a Triumph Stag,1971,thinking it was the most beautiful car on the road. It was my second car,and it turned out to be a complete load of rubbish.Pity, because it looked so good.
Always wanted a triumph stag vetch, a mate had one and it looked so cool. But like most things triumph they are a bit of disaster when you get away from the looks, fiats remind of it as they are great cars until you start having problems
pmsl I would have taken it just to look at , was thinking about buying one to do up a little while ago, but probably will never happen
Shame with the stags Vetch, they always seemed to have trouble with that new V engine, which basically was Two dolly sprints put together, the cams where always going, I know because at the time I had a TR7 convertible, and my uncle decided to buy a Triumph stag to out do me, the thing was up at Lex Meads most of the time, having new camshafts fited! Lovely looking car though...........
Iv'e painted 6 stags 2 in Pimento red 2 Magenta 1 in Brooklands green and 1 in Saffron yellow...and they do look better than they perform. The engine was going to be a stock chevy but it was to expensive for triumph so the welded 2 Dolomite blocks together
I've just remembered why I finally fell out of love with the Stag. I went to Cardiff,(of all places), and parked in Canton area. When I returned to the car, it simply refused to start. I tried, and tried but no joy. So,now I have to find a garage, but it was Easter Monday, late afternoon, and nothing was open. I had to walk into the City and get a train back to Swansea. I went straight to my step father, who was a motor mechanic of sorts. Having explained what had happened, he offered to take me to Cardiff the next day,and sort out the problem. Unfortunately,he was not able to start it,and he had to tow me back to Gowerton. The towing rope kept snapping, and it took ages to make the journey. We pushed the car into my garage, and he left. I was apoplectic with rage over this piece of garbage,I went into the garage and did a Basil Fawlty. I cursed, kicked, and spat at that Stag, vowing never to drive it again, and I didn't,selling it soon afterwards. Nightmare.
"lovely looking car though". Hey,tell me about it. I was going to be "the man",driving it around Gowerton, and Gorseinon. Instead,I turned out to be "the stupid man" who shelled out his hard earned on a piece of junk. At least I can laugh about it now,and at my insanity. If only it hadn't looked so damned sexy.
Bongo, they got it almost right on the Sprints, though they were so hybrid at the time, that the engins burnt out after 40,000, if over used. But triumph did finaly get that 4 cylinder 2.0 enginge right on the TR7, where they bored out for bigger pistons and a simpler cam arrangement, here's my old TR7 Drophead!.......... please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
