I am afraid Ender has it right, my experience of todays student (and I have lots) is that there are 3 categories...

The first is a surprisingly large percentage of vacuous airheads who have been rolled to school in a protective cocoon by Mummy and Daddy and have therefore had little or no contact with the real world. They are obsessed with Facebook or Twitter and everything is "yaa" or "like" or "amazeballs" and they talk a whole new language that they think is cool but in fact marks them as moronic. These are the ones who will get chewed up and spat out in 10 minutes by the savage business world out there at the moment and who will sit at home wondering what went wrong and why can't they be a CEO with their "Desmond" degree as they expect everything to fall in their lap as it always has up to then...

Then you have category 2 who are sharper and more savvy but are only interested in making a quick buck to line their pockets and stuff everyone else in the process, these are the sort who became bankers and who ****ed the entire world economy for their own benefit. I am far from a leftie however I am considerably concerned about the increasingly short term-ist attitude of people these days. Worst example I can think of is the pesticide people who tried to convince the world that there was no evidence that their nerve toxin was wiping out bees and that we should wait and see. Luckily, the EU finally grew a pair and said no as even they weren't too stupid to realise that without bees, we are all dead...

The 3rd category are the remaining actually smart ones (and I am lucky enough to have one of these to mentor) but sadly, they are few and far between...

The majority of category 1 and 2 have very little interest in much outside Facebook and have no experience of or interest in actual, physical sport (other than the WII....)

Being in Clifton[ville] I would like to see Bristol City attempting to tempt one or two of the hundreds playing footall on that green area top of Pembroke road and over a bit, down the hill, via the bus stop heading through Ashton which is just in front of the green area.

People in later life do adopt sides. David Llyod the clubs football liason officer is testimony to that. Steve Lansdown's support of BCFC stems from middle age and his City supporting student son.
