1st season, but as with a lot of series, I think they are charactor building and slowly introcuing the situ. I think it's interesting because I really couldn't comprehend how a nation/world could fall to something like a zombie apocolypse. they move so slowly and start in such short numbers that with modern weaponary, I ca't see how they could presume the near total destruction? No Spoilers though squire! Bah!
"Josh" Series 1 - Sitcom with Josh Widdicombe. He's actually not a bad actor, and the show is pretty funny! Jack Dee is also in it. "Mad Men" Season 4 - Think the first season I have really enjoyed. Think I'm starting to see why this show was so loved. Taken a long time, but this ones been very entertaining. "Community" Season 1. Watched the first 5 episodes ages ago, didn't find it at all funny, gave it a second chance and you really warm to it. By the end of the Season i really liked it. I can see why it was a big American Comedy show.
Sorry if this has been covered before. Just started watching The Tunnel on Sky Atlantic. Apparantly this is the 2nd series ,but I easily picked up the sub plots (a little help from Wiki) Really absorbing viewing.
It's a remake of the Swedish/Danish show "The Bridge" or "Bron/Broen" as it's called. Which is one of my all time favorite shows. All Subtitles so watched it without the gf, but she would have loved it, if she just made the effort. From the trailer to series 1, they hit all the major plot points, and look like they have remained very very true to the Swedish one. They have just tweaked it slightly to incorporate the English/French boarder. It's been a good few years since I watched Season 1 and 2 of "The Bridge", so told my gf, I would watch "The Tunnel" with her. I'll ready pretty much know what's going on, but I'm still looking forward to going through it again. Brilliant stories in all 3 seasons of "Bron/Broen" that have aired so far. If The Tunnel continue to follow the plots, the show will be great!
Hap And Leonard. A 6 episode Mini Series. Really good fun. Lot's of action, and splashes of violent thrills. Well worth a little watch.
So did anyone catch the new top gear? As somene who grew up watching and appreciating a number of Chris Evans televisual endeavours I once was a big fan. However he sometime ago lost the edge that really was the main component in his success. I loved don't forget your toothbrush and TFI friday was perhaps the only show I ever considered unmissable. But the recent TFI resurrection was awful self indulgent twaddle with out any edge or any of the old humour and chemistry. I think he has got old and boring. His attempt to foist his kid on the nation was just cringeworthy, but I digress. Top gear was horrible for several reasons: - Chris Evans - Half the time sounded like he was trying to read a dull fact sheet about the car, the lap.....anything he said! - Just wasn't natural infront of the camera, which seems bizarre given his previous successes, you are not Clarkson sir, so don't try to be - Not enough Sabine who was quite good - No chemistry between the presenters, granted this could come but surely it would have been better to get two friends or well acquainted at least people to present it. Nick Frost and Simon Pegg for example would have been great. - Chris Evans despiration for studio audience approval - Chris Evans voice - Not sure I like the new offroad bits and the obvious product placing going on with the mini. It was much more fun to have a crappy car that was a bit of a dog. (It could grow on me, I guess at least it's a vague attempt to freshen things up) - They have done so little to freshen it up The positives were I guess that Sabine was quite good and I think could be quite funny. Matt was very polished and not bad. That's probably it. With time I guess Chris may relax and improve, and it's only with time that the chemistry could come, but I think these guys will never be held together for long enough for that chemistry to form. Bah! p.s. Did I mention that Chris Evans stank?
Wow! What a shout that is! I would have actually sat through a Top Gear episode if that had happened!!
I hated what TG had become, a vehicle for Clarkson's ego! All the "issues" were so obviously staged and badly acted. Hammond was particularly awful, his little boy lost act was nauseating. I thought the new show was average at best and agree with you regarding Evans using his son, it's nothing short of exploitation of a minor, and yes more of the German girl she's a natural.
Didn't Sabine do something on the old show? Wasn't she the one slamming round a track in an old Ford Transit? Only seen pictures of her, so can't be sure. I didn't watch the 'new' show because, well, an American and Chris Evans, so I guess it's not fair of me to comment. I wouldn't say I was a huge fan of the originals, but I think it's unlikely that that dynamic could be beaten in a similar format. Let me just say that, regarding the new show, ignorance is sublime bliss.
I love AP, but can't find it on any of my three channels. Is it on the Light Programme? I don't watch much telly, I like to watch what I like, but fact is, I can't - it's always on some weird channel that presumably wants my hard earned. I wanted to watch 'The Tunnel' even though it's a poor rip-off of a superior Scandiwegian effort, but that must be on a weird 'give me money' channel too. Well, it can jolly well take a big old jump in the lake. Now, where's that copy of fifty shades....
AP was on Sky Atlantic. I'm not sure what The Tunnel shows on, either Sky Atlantic or Sky One probably.
I would agree that the old show was starting to get stale and yes it was a vehicle for Clarksons ego. That said I did like the presenters and the banter/relationship they had developed over the years. I don't even mind Hammond. I wasn't suggesting that he was as such exploiting his son, It was more that he was doing that most nauseating of parent things which is assuming that everyone else really must love your progeny. No Chris, I'm sure he's quite delightful, but this is a show for adults that used to thrive on being edgy. Sticking your own son on there and thinking it's entertainment is a nepotistic ego trip on your part and sh#te TV. Gandy, I think Sabine has made several previous appearances and had always been quite good so they did at least get something right. Bah!
I caught up with it (and the new "extra gear" spinoff) last night. Chris Evans was truly dreadful. He opened the show as if it was the new series of TFI Friday, the initial gags felt very forced, and completely agree with the lack of chemistry. By all means keep the Allmann brothers theme, but they could have at least changed the credits and dropped the "Clarkson introducing inane things that happen" bit. Chris Evans testing the Dodge was terrible, and felt dumbed down even compared to old Top Gear. Sticking a massive spoiler and a big thirsty engine in a car is not cutting edge, stop pretending that they've done anything clever. Their "epic drive" to Blackpool had no attempt at a justification, and they shot them arriving in Blackpool as if they'd just completed one of the old Top Gear specials. There was more to Top Gear's challenges than "let's drive a ****, broken car somewhere pointless". Once Le Blanc settles enough to drop the "I'm American and know nothing about Britain" schtick, I think he'll be pretty good. Also liked Sabine, hopefully they'll use more of her. I actually thought "Extra Gear" was better in many ways. Their presenter plucked from the general public wasn't perfect, but felt more natural than Evans and suited the tone better! Chris Harris is fantastic at testing cars, as he was always going to be, it should be him not Evans testing everything. Him chatting on the sofa with the other new guy felt a bit awkward, and scripted, but I think could develop. Doing "the news" as a 3 always made more sense as it made it more a conversation, this felt quite stilted. Bringing a comedian guest on appears to be the latest pointless TV trope which they didn't avoid, and that was awkward too. Between the two shows I think they had enough material for one reasonable episode, hopefully things can improve!
England ladies v Serbia ladies, 6-0 after 60 minutes. Good watch, better than the men the other night!!
