I re-scanned my DAB radio today and heard some mindblowing stuff on NMEradio. But no mention of who performed what, as no DJ. Even the display screen on the radio shows all manner of things - but NOT what I'm actually listening to Checked the website, no obvious sign of a recent playlist or anything. Am I missing something obvious here, please?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=s2z8TpFV748 If you like psychedelic music, then these guys could play it. I remember hearing this for the first time in 68 on a tinny old transistor radio in my bedroom at home and thinking the world was going to change forever if this was how the future was going to be. Tim Bogert is one of the best blooming bass players walking the planet.
Does anyone else end up listening to topical songs?
I loved Supergrass, that album was a cracker, saw them play it live a couple of times back then as well. I can remember being at uni and buying it the week it came out as clear as yesterday. Must be a good 15+ years ago, blimey. Tellin' Stories by the Charlatans came out the same week and I played them both to death. I used to buy ****loads of albums back then - those were the days
I heard the first track off that album and thought "Oh Dear" but then Richard iii came out and I bought the album. The usual excuse for the bands demise: musical differences. Shame as they were slightly different from the mainstream 3/4 piece band.
Who else bought this record?
Joy Division... Absolute quality!
Great song. Listen to it rather than watch the video though I think because the video's a bit odd and may ruin it unless you listen to it first.
One of my favourites, seen him live and even seen him backing Bowie of all people. His version of Stevie Wonder's Superstition is playing at its best.
Excellent! Vintage TV has just started an hour long programme featuring reggae and ska acts Bob Marley first up, delighted to say I saw him live.....could be the makings of a new "sticky" thread, there, all about live music?
Bless 'em, they played 'Don't turn around' by Aswad. Which is fine, but 'African children' or 'Warrior charge' in a dub stylee would have been so much better.
Ahhhh.....reggae!
