Crab meat and sweetcorn soup made with lobster instead today. Don't get as much meat as a dozen crab claws but I'm hoping it tastes good.
I was going to use a smoked sausage, with some chili in it if I can find one. I was thinking Creme Fraiche as well.
One of the cheapest and best cuts for a slow cooker. The connective tissue, sinew and fat give a wonderful glaze after about 8 hours bubbling away
I'm also tempted to make this: But as I'm using Chicken in the Pasta, I will probably use large prawns.
Just seen this on twitter, £3.50 for a "portion" of chips - of which there are seven! Do the maths Sadly, they didn't name (and thereby shame) the offending outlet. Edit: it's the Plough, Fen Ditton please log in to view this image
Another little plug for Lidl. 1 kg smoked / unsmoked gammon joint for £2.59!! 750 gm red onions 29 pence. Mental. http://newsletter.lidl.co.uk/c/mv
They better hurry up and turn the Wymondham Pound Stretcher into a Lidl! I want in on this sweet action!
And Dereham is getting an Aldi, plus Norwich is getting 2 more - 1 near Aldiss and 1 where Topps and Wickes used to be.
Stupid. Cromer's population is circa 8,000, Wymondham nearer 14,500 yet we have one? I guess it's largely availability of suitable premise - at low rents!
Indisputable. Your pier is longer, the beaches sandier and your cinema and theatre are all top of the range
Hmmm, should I stick or twist? No, after deliberating for a nanosecond, I'll stay put - fearsome northerly winds or not. I do remember the Feathers when Eddie used to run it, always a great pub back in the day.
They are twice-cooked, though! I watch my daughter from the garden of the Plough in the rowing 'bumps' on the Cam - lovely spot. I usually send Mrs G in to pay!
I've been in there a couple of times. Think it's a little of the rowdy side, dingy side. I did like the fact they had Mild on tap. Not been able to go in to a pub and order "a pint of mild" like Ade Edmondson in "Bottom" before! That was about the highlight. I think The Cross Keys is the only Wymondham pub I've been to less.
