I'm just having a gander to see if I want to spunk any more money on this Black friday malarkey. Truth is the wife has been hounding me to get a new tumble dryer. But so far I've prioritised on 1) a new telly (a beauty for under £500), 2) Fire Kindle for the littlun, and 3) a new pair of trainers for me. And she's claiming I'm being selfish ffs! <whistle>

Don't bother, there's nothing left, Mrs Stan has bought everything.

Unfortunately, if things stay the way they are at the moment, we are going to have the most odious elements of this board - namely, Skiddy, Ozzie, Pixie, Bambi, Commie, Tobes, and possibly Robbie - jamming up the bit-rate with their febrile garbage. It won't be pretty or intelligent. I may have to take an early bath and get down to some serious practice on the guitar.

...lot of poorly constructed waffle prior to euphemism for a consolation w@nk ... pretty much in character then ... :)

My lad's cat died yesterday. He was only 3 years old. He had a (supposedly not serious!) heart murmur so we assume it just gave in. I found him and had to break the news to Stan Jr. I've never seen him so upset. It was a sad day.

... commisserations fella ... me and my then wife to be (we're now divorced and I've been with my current for close to 20 years) bought 2 kittens from a farm when we got our first house ... girl cat went just like yours but a little bit older - her brother a few years later ... buried them both in the garden under their 'favourite' shrubs mainly because thats what my heartbroken daughter wanted ... remember digging the first grave in the pouring rain with tears streaming down my face ... my little'un lovingly wrapped her in a towel and put her in a cardbard box ... insisted on putting her in herself (wouldn't hear of her being taken to the vets etc - had to stay 'at home'... damn near broke me up that day - kids just let it all out. . <rose>

Thanks. I think I've mentioned before that I'm not particularly attached to these two cats but seeing Stan Jr sobbing uncontrollably broke my otherwise frozen heart. Hopefully he's been alright at school today.

... will take a few days from my experience ... my daughter took a while to readjust - like waking up in the morning and wondering if it had just been a bad dream until reality kicked in a again and also thinking that she'd just seen the cat out of the corner of her eye from time to time ... there's really only one quick fix and that's getting another .... problem is that you will then get into another cycle ... but your son will at least be better able to cope with it the next time ... life can be a bit **** sometimes tbh ... ..

Sorry to hear this mate. We lost one of our dogs last year. My Daughter was only 2, she was devastated.

My youngest didn't bat an eyelid when we lost his two dwarf hamsters to mites (or whatever the little bastard parasites are called).

Us HIAGs are made of sterner stuff, Stan. We're the kind of people who storm machinegun nests with nothing but a blade between our teeth, mate.

Neither of ours gave a **** when the hamsters died. They weren't interested in them when they were alive.

Fair enough, Lightning.

We did have a cat, but it ****ed off next door when our youngest sprog arrived. It pops in, occasionally. It probably still has a good dump in my garden.
