Ferguson was the only one worth his salt today. The only one that looked likely to make things happen. Pity everybody else had such stinkers and weren't able to contribute to his efforts. A bright spark with hopefully a great future with us.

Agree with your 442 set-up although I'm not sure about having Lover there with his current form although he does seem to click when he plays with Best. Unfortunately I don't Pardew dropping Nolan anytime soon(Hope I'm wrong).

Out of interest, with no Nolan, who would captain? Harper, Colo, Barton...?

Barton would have to get the captains arm band as he is the best player on the pitch

Either Barton/Colo or even Harper IMO.

  8. Barton captain.

As much as i would like Ireland to be a success, i don't want to spend alot of time rebooting more out of form bollocks. I'd much rather keeping playing Ferguson, and get him vital experience. He's done well at PL level so far.

I'd like Ireland to make a sub appearance though, Guthrie coming off for him.

Barton captain first, then Harper, i don't know about Colo.

Yeah.. we should make a thread tomo about weather Nolan should be dropped or not because since his BF Carroll left his goals have dried out and his general CM play has been average to poor. It's understandable why the Bolton fans wanted him out.. the guy's a great finisher and a threat in the box but lacks CM play ability like Guthrie and Barton.

  10. Well to be fair, his long balls and passing are pretty good. He does a decent job CM, but his most effective position is behind the striker. His attacking play is good.
I don't think i'd want to drop Nolan, but once everyone is fit and we get more signings in, i can't see him getting many games.

He may do well as an impact sub, grabbing the goal and such

  12. Well if you're all sick of Lovenkrands, perhaps it'd be worth putting Best upfront by himself and Nolan up to support him?

Actually, I'm with you on this one and think Loverman works well with Best, haven't seen much of the Best-Nolan combo yet though

Agree with most of your ratings Tash, as well with most of your observations

Nolan had a decent game and would have popped up with a goal on a luckier day for Newcastle (This was the unluckiest day of the season)

Barton wasn't as good as he usually is but had moments of brilliance. When he nicked the ball away from whichever Stoke player tried to drive forward from the back... I don't think I've ever seen such a spectacular robbery.

Ameobi was ****in useless. So was Lovenkrands. But I haven't seen a striker play well off Ameobi... Ever

You've said all we can about Ferguson. He was outstanding going forward. Balls of steel.

    Tiote was below average

Simpson did well but is more effective as a RB

Sol Campbell and Harper cost us the game

    Collicini and Williamson were decent

Ranger was alright but I still don't rate him as having a big future with us

I said in another thread somewhere that any time I've seen Ferguson play he has looked like a pure winger. He's got the pace, balance, ball control, crossing and seems to have a bit of technique too

Utter garbage. Really excited about Ferguson though, looks like a great prospect and I'd like to see him start on the left wing against Wolves if Enrique is back, and if not then LB

Calm down about Ferguson, yes he was very encouraging but this kind of pressure on a player who hasnt even started yet and has less than 180 mins of first team football is ridiculous. Give him time and games and just let him develop. Becoming a player of Enrique's quality is a huge task and he cant be looked at as a potential replacement until we see a lot more of him.

    Agree totally with Smudger.

Some fans on here are tauting Ferguson to be the next Messi or some sort.

Yes he's looked good but let's wait until he develops, gets regular games and actually has a full season in the PL to show what he's made of.. saying all this I'll love him to start come Sat 2nd April!

Watching Campbell yesterday , I was thinking that we might as well have had ****ing Boumsong in defense. Useless.

    ^ Agree.

Definitely want to see him start v Wolves, even if Jose and Jonas are fit, play all 3 and Barton in the middle <ok>

EDIT: was agreeing with Sanchino, I dont want to see Campbell or Boumsong start v Wolves <laugh>
