He was a media darling for a while. Could string a sentence together , with a touch of a middle class ascent, a rarity for a footballer. How Gooners and the press could ever compare him to Bale in quality over the years was the biggest joke. The new Walcot is their OXO. Prepare yourself for years of big-in him up . Only to be the next Tony Daley another false dawn.
From what I've seen, I'd disagree with that. Unlike Walnut, I think AOC looks to be a genuine talent. Unless, of course, like Walnut, he disappears up his own arse!
AOC and Walcott are different players. I seen AOC hit better passes in his short time at Arsenal then Walcott has in his entire career. AOC also has the speed to go with that technical ability. Hence the difference between the two.
According to Opta Sports, Theo Walcott has found a team-mate with just 14 of his 103 crosses from open play in the league this season.
Worse - Walcott and Benayoun, with Oxlade-Chamberlain and Gervinho on the bench. Walcott is one of those players that is reliant on one aspect of their game, and never seems interested in working on any of the others. Yes, he's fast, but so are Aaron Lennon, Danny Rose, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Ashley Young, all of whom have worked on other aspects of their game. Naturally, of course, only Walcott gets picked for England...
Two good goals today (although he was helped by a miscontrol on the first). I still don't think he's a top four player though so I hope he stays in the Arsenal team!
That he has a half-decent game once every 6 games. He did it the wrong way round today, and played fully-decent for one-half of one game
