Agree on both counts. NO is no great shakes, but is fairly solid defensively. Obviously Adel has improved massively in that respect, but no harm in one FB hanging back to give some extra cover if our best player needs to remain in attacking positions; as for SWP I think that for all his effort he is largely an empty vessel going forward; we need a little more IMO. Hoilett's no world-beater but he's hardly had time to establish himself, whilst we've clearly seen the level that SWP can reach.
Ha ha.....no...im a 27 year old bloke....dont have tits im afraid. DT3 you opinion is of course valid...but you arent always correct. Nedum Onuha has been for the last however many games he's played poor going forward and once he gets into an attacking position, he looks lost and passes back to his CB. That one video shows a great run and yes he is capable.....but this is a forum where we dicuss our football team, this includes positives and negatives. If you were a manager, I believe you would give your team praise every game no matter how they play, even when constructive critisicm is needed. ANYWAY Onuha is not a RB and as such being played out of postion he had a poor game going forward.....he had naff all to do defensivly as Fulham played with little width and barely attacked us. If you want to disagree purley for the sake of your self righteous opinion that doesnt whole heartley fit with mine thats fine...but dont call me ill. We played great yesterday and I think we will start to storm up the league now, but a performance is never perfect and his certainly wasnt.
What we did yesterday was change a DCM for a free role and put in a solid RB for an attacking one. I think wed have to go back to 3 DCM if we played Fabio and obviously thats a bit silly after the game Taarabt had.
Oh well! Good post. DT3 is incredibly positive, but our whole team are absolutely top-class according to him. To state we've got the best team now than we've had in ages is hardly worth the 'paper' it's written on; after all we've been in the lower divisions of English football for the last 15 years or so.
DT was telling us how great France were at the Euros, he really is on another planet. Chamakh? If he can't score a hatful at Arsenal he's pants...
Some of what I read on here truly astounds me. You know nothing about football if your thinking Nedum is a championship player at best, ludicrous statement.
So you must think he was poor defensively then? No need for that mate....we all have our opinions. I thought he was his usual poor self going forward, but very sound defensively which was important with Traore getting forward and Adel in quite a free role. Still.....just my opinion.
I am never always right never so that clears that up I hope I think he was picked on form and please remember the threads opening statements ... Not good enough and a championship player at best That my friend deserves a comment IMO ... It's my opinion and sorry but I see this negativity about our team as a illness if you take a direct insult apologies
He isnt not good enough...nor is he Championship standard.....but an area of his game that needs working on is breaking forward from those RB attacking positions. We played a very wide game yesterday...with SWP and Mackie hugging the lines.....this was mainly to stretch the midfield and give Tarbs that freedom in the middle. But if you are going to play wingers like that, the fullbacks need to have that attacking mentality to be able to ping passes for the wingers to run onto. Just watch him next game...he gets the ball and sometimes really doesnt know what to do with it. Its not being negative, its just an observation of an area in his game that he needs to improve. Just like Tarrabt a few years ago was awful at getting back and now he's improved as a player 10 fold. Critisism isnt always a negative thing old chum!
In Onuoha's defense, he hadn't kicked a ball for a long time before yesterday's match, so it was always a tough ask for him to perform well. Every player needs a run of games before they really perform to the best of their ability, so it's a bit harsh to slate Onuoha. Personally, I don't think Onuoha's a right back, and would look more comfortable at centre half but only a mad man would change our current centre half partnership!
Good post. Onouha did what he had to defensively yesterday, but it wasn't a big test. When he played earlier in the season he was'nt bad purely defensively either, but even delivering a rutine clearance was often a problem for him, too many went to the opposition's strikers. I think Bosingwa is the best RB we have, definetely best with the ball and going forward, and as good as anyone we got defensively - and I haven't really seen the lack of effort he is accused of, but on TV that's not so apparent. If he does his best and what he should do like stay back when Traore moves forward, I'd like to see him at RB again.
