Impressive, albeit twisted and far more ungracious than usual, trolling. I don't see how this is a '**** piece of justice' though, 18 weeks is plenty for outstanding ****ery, and depending on the severity of his autism that could in fact be too much.

18 weeks is an appropriately harsh sentence ofr what is, after all, sticks and stones over the internet.

18 weeks to a career criminal is nothing - - overnight in a proper prison for a newbe is terrifying

Harsh sentence for what it is. Especially if he has Aspergers which most definitely would have directly influenced his understanding of the gravity of what he was doing.

Also whoever said earlier that anybody can get a doctor to diagnose them Autistic, where did you get that idea from? It isn't like ADHD or Depression where some doctor can write off a bullshit prescription because you're acting weird you know.

Agree entirely with this, myself and my mother both experience working with children with autism. Often they don't understand social situations, how and why people disagree or with their behavior. They don't always understand SUBTLETY!

This lad is a ****, plain and simple. He was deliberately targeting people who are emotionally weak and clearly taking pleasure from it. Yes he's got aspergers but he's also got issues far darker and sinister than a struggle with social interaction!

Aspergers sufferers don't merely have issues with social interaction, they are known to form obsessions which they struggle to part with. Combine misunderstanding of social boundaries with obsession and you could have a strong fuel for a situation like this.

Maybe so, and I think the sentence reflects the diminished responsibility, but many aspergers sufferers would never do anything like this...Though his syndrome may have added to his behaviour, some people are just innately bad/evil!

Yep, agreed. I'm by no means saying that all Aspergers sufferers are inclined to act that way, but the characteristics of the syndrome certainly can't be ruled out as a cause of this guy's actions.

I wish they'd call it something different to trolling.

I always just think of trolling as taking the piss a bit over the internet, not preying on greiving friends and families.

Fairly reasonable sentence actually. I'm happy with it. <ok>

Of course, people get there emotions involved and don't see sense. The kind of people who want to kill serial killers instead of finding out why and how we can stop people killing and enjoying it. But I guess I'm rambling.
