The face coverings that most of us used and then discarded in supermarket car parks and pavements were found to be pretty useless.

The only ones to be effective were tight fitting surgeons masks which don't allow any air in from the outside but which were very expensive.

But then again we were told by 'the science' that having a jab would prevent you from getting Covid or from transmitting it. Both of those were incorrect too although the people who did get Covid and who had been jabbed suffered less than others.

It's all water under the bridge now, but never again will the public be frightened into compliance and suffer lockdowns, because they simply weren't necessary.

All we needed to do was protect the vulnerable.

Boris did his best, not good but his best.
Apparently we shut down to late but if you asked 3 scientists back then you'd have been given 3 different answers.
He did brilliant with the vaccine roll out far outstripped the EU.
Hancock getting caught in a clinch was idiotic, what a pr*t.
Yes we definitely deserved better but I wonder whoever was PM whether it would have been different.
Lots of hindsight going on in this enquiry.

the "blue one's " as you say littered the streets were effective, but to a dgree were more to protect others than the wearer. Thats why doctors/ nurses /health centres used them.
you were only in danger if you were "stupid" and didnt follow the rules/ guidelines. Strange when [ we, generalization ] look back at covid .............

None of my Thursday group of 5 never had covid in 2020 . a couple mild in 2021 .. My wife worked at a care home and they only had 4 cases right at the start [ first 4-6 weeks from patients returned from BRI!!! with it!!!!! Neither of us has had it but rest of family have 2 or 3 times!
rules we followed were outside of the house shops etc we wore a mask right up until start of 2023 .. wife had travelled on buses a number of times in 2021/2022 15+ I had a couple times. Carried a sanitizer and used often [ entering shops or where others touched. ] Shopping was wiped over or left for 72 hours plus as was post... visitors when they left door handles were wiped ... it was like compulsory seat belts, now a days you get in and subconciously belt up ..... 2m rule was also a big part of it! it became natural.

the vulnerable a wide ranging umbrella... some are vulnerable but didnt get it! some got it [ even died ] who were as fit as flea's! AGE 70 + = VULNERABLE?

Surely hindsight is the whole point of the enquiry. Forget the tittle tattle and finger pointing going on at present, I hope once all that is done, using hindsight we can help to have a better idea of how, and when, to act should something similar happen again.

What has come out about Boris is that he was easily distracted, couldn't concentrate, didn't understand what was going on, and couldn't make decisions

That pretty much sums up Boris, oh and has a tendency to “bend” the truth

to be honest have loads I need to do outside but rain means more tea and time following stuff on the computer.

I was 100% behind Boris up until Covid. The media fiasco and the political points gathering that followed meant you couldnt trust anyone and to sell print/air time the media had to pick on a whipping post and did a very good job at defrocking Boris and starting a demise of the UK economy... unfortunately followed by that putrid individual that is basicall the modern days serial killer/ murderer!

This enquiry has been an eye opener... watched bits of it and to be fair a lot of subtle truth's and differing aspects are coming out. Of course the hard core haters will not see through the fog, and I expect them to not have the ability to see the pandemic as it was, instead just fixate on one or 2 bits that were " not acceptable " or misconstrued in favour the wrong way!

Each of the DA's had there given time and it was enlightening to see how biased they were to the extent that when they didnt get the answer they wanted they moved on or repeated it trying to get it they saw it. Boris actually stuck to his guns and said it as he saw it and tried to explain in some cases and didnt detour from anything he said previously!

The KC .. he basically followed the route of all minor ethnic/black/asian individuals who feel they are second class citizens or put upon looked down on are the voiciferous ones . [ a lot of those that have and try to become part of the UK and integrate rarely if ever say anything they just keep on working ..getting involved with their [greater mixed] communities and lead a peaceful life like the rest of us ... ALL 4 of the DA's reps + KC tried to put words into Boris's mouth ......... they failed.
What has been learned so [ whole enquiry ] ... YES there were mistakes made, YES the best efforts were made on the known [previously never experienced pandemic ] pandemic that was unfolding... everyone in .gov / science/health were doing what they THOUGHT was the best but History shows in hindsight that a lot was wrong a lot was right and nature has its own agenda .......

Keep up!, having found £290m the tories obviously have their own money tree. Unless of course Rishi found it down the back of his sofa, £290m being loose change for him. Maybe his Mrs gave it to him from the taxes she saved for having Non Dom status for all those years, who knows.
