For your info, here was my tweet that caused so much rage towards me... im sure some of you twitter geeks know a way from here too see some responses from my tweet!
Mate you are a true blue, you are a long time friend of our board, thanks for the good wishes and for god sake, come and spend some time talking with us, a load of our members have invited you, the old days are just memories. See you soon I or we hope.....
I think that was a very gracious of you complimenting your local rivals mate and fair play to you..Take no notice of the fans giving you abuse....takes more of a man to give the credit you have given fellow football fans.. It doesn't happen for either club very often so sometimes it's nice that the spotlight is on one of our teams in Bristol..
To be quite honest with you, your loyalty to your club in the state it is great, clearly you have a owner that can't deliver you what is required. Your loyal fans are staying behind the club, you obviously are one of those, however you have the bottle to praise the side in your city that is doing very well at present. Full respect to you on that. It takes a real man to praise the opposite team in the same city. Our aim must be promotion, there is no better chance than this season, I said any team that finishes above Wolves will go up. Our draw at their place earlier in the season showed what a class outfit they are, that is me being honest about them. However bidding 38 million for a player where is the FFP rules and surly that should stop this from happening.
CJS - there are idiots in all football club’s support and both Bristol clubs are no exception. Keep posting what you feel. Your praise is very much appreciated and I’m sure it’s privately echoed by many of your fellow Gas supporters and most football fans throughout the country after last nights performance. I’m very proud - disappointed but proud. I enjoy the local rivalry and banter but I remember congratulating your lot for bouncing straight back up from the conference - no mean feat. Real football fans can appreciate the efforts and achievement of other clubs.
FOOTBALL IS LIKE AN ADVERT, when it gets exposure everyone benefits, when it is just run of the mill we are just an entity in the background....
What a twat that Ledbury Dan is .. the jealousy is just oozing out of him. You made him look a small minded Idiot CJS, so good on you! I did note your little comment about dropping to our levels of pettiness though..
Sorry for the essay banksy The pettiness comment was not aimed at all reds. When you are trying to justify yourself and reason with the other person with limited characters on twitter, its hard to be specific with everything. That comment was purely aimed at the reds who turned on their own and were not very pleasant towards other reds who previously gave us praise. Some of your fans praised us for bouncing straight back to the football league, praised us for our double promotion and praised us after losing 3-2 to Chelsea last season. I remember it being pointed out on another Rovers forum (gaschat) that a thread on OTIB which mocked Rovers, had some praise on it towards us. But some reds didn't like that and were quite harsh on the ones who offered praise. I was referring to that. That's what I meant when I said dropping to their level of pettiness. I remember seeing praise on here too from a lot of you. I remember some on here (cant remember who) who didn't like praise being offered to us. Maybe just banter. But what I read on OTIB was not banter for sure. I have seen a thread on gaschat today about City and there is a fair amount of praise towards you reds which had the same result petty bitching. I just don't understand why people turn on their own to prove how much they hate the opposition.
Yes, there are certainly dicks at all football clubs. For some reason, our fans seem insistent on punching horses FFS But I have said this numerous times for many years that the dicks at all clubs are not true fans in my opinion. Like when some reds put graffiti on the mem gates. They are not real fans of yours. The real fans were those who came out publicly to criticise those individuals I was brought up to behave and believe in a certain way which is gasheads stick together and respect each other and be like a big family. Throughout the 80's and 90's I experienced this all the time. I still see it now at games and even when I wear my rovers shirt around, I always get someone shouting out at me "up the rovers". So it really bothers me when I see our fans fight each other. I am just not use to seeing it. And being on the wrong end of it myself for just saying well done to a team who performed brilliantly against the team who is probably the best or 1 of the best in the world right now, seems over the top and ridiculous to me and I feel ashamed that they are too narrow minded and fickle to offer praise when its due just because a red burnt Eastville and a red tried to burn down Twerton. Pathetic really. I blame the rise of social media. Some fans have turned into keyboard warriors hiding behind their screens at home/work and fight with their own when they wouldn't have the guts to do it face to face.
Yea I know.. it works both ways, fair play to you for your comments. only joking! For me, when you have a good result, I will do 1 of 2 things, firstly and mostly likely just ignore it (and thats genuinely not meant as a dig) or congratulate my gas friends (and I have many) who are more balanced with their opinions either way. I am amazed at what Twitter has become in the last couple of years it is a festival of who can show the most offence, its full of absolute tossers many of whom are so called celebrities. (Lily Allen springs to mind).. can't stand the place.
For me, when you have a good result, I either cry for about half an hour or I think fair shout. It depends really how Rovers got on at the same time. So as you can imagine, there has been more tears than anything else With twitter, I don't see a lot of the bad stuff as I only follow Rovers players/youths/officials and Rovers themselves of course. I also follow some not606 acc0unts in case something happens to the site. I have around 50 accounts and that's it. So I only see what they all post or retweet. So I don't see a lot of the bad stuff. But I had nearly 850 followers. Im now down to 830 now s lost nearly 20 followers overnight since praising City . The bad stuff I see is the replies I get to my tweets. Im like whats the point of following me if you don't agree with anything or just want to pick a fight. Whats the point.
Here is 1 reply that I received that got a lot of likes (over 30) and a lot of retweet too. The person deleted it soon after for some reason so it would have got more I'm sure of it. It is still in my notifications but I know its deleted. Here it is but it may not work.
In case the tweet above didn't work, here is a screenshot of it without all the likes and retweet it had in the end... That was a response to my tweet that praised City's performance. Sad really that some people feel this way. Why is it when something bad happens or someone linked to 1 of the clubs passes away or a situation like young Oscar who needed donations to get treatment, why is it that both clubs come together and perspective is found? But then its hate hate hate again. Did this person show some compassion for Oscar or did they enjoy seeing what he was going through because he is a City fan? I am just fed up with it all to be honest.
"Also as for their "great fanbase" "great following" etc bullshit. It was a massive game for them. Massive, massive game. We sold our 4000 ticket allocation within a few hours (season ticket holders only) for Stamford Bridge last season in the 2nd round of the EFL Cup (only lost 3-2). We would have took many, many more if we had more tickets or it went past season ticket holders. Even some season ticket holders missed out. Their ground is a ****ing library week in, week out so they hd a cheek singing that to you last night and the biggest match at Ashton Gate in a long time and they haven't even sold out (they will now as they are still in the tie). I don't want to sound bitter as they are doing well on the pitch. But off the pitch they lack class and are fickle, obnoxious ****s. I'll enjoy the hammering in the 2nd leg." This was a gas head who went out of his way to post this on the Man City forum, he's not making a very job about sounding bitter is he? and the home tie was pretty much sold out days ago!
I'm intrigued as to how 'Bristol Sport' is trying to wipe Bristol Rovers off the face of the earth? She may have a bot of a point w with the other 2 reasons though
The whole thing she said was a good point But to use that as an excuse to not even give due credit is childish to me.
