    not from me <whistle>

seriously though think we should cash in on Skrtel while he has some value left in him.

couple of seasons ago he was voted fans player of the season and after has been poor since, been ok this season, wonder if he will be 1 good season 2 crap type of player from now on, or he will actually be consistent, if he was consistent he may be worth keeping for back up.

Skrtel is a luxury IMO. I'd put him in the same category as Downing and Carroll in these sense that if we had limitless resources and squad place, I'd keep them. However, Skrtel does hold decent value and he's on decent wages as well. He's not key to the way we play therefore he's dispensable.

The money from him sale would help bring in a player who is more likely to make an impact on our first team.

  4. He was brilliant that season, so good that even I praised him and thought he should be player of the season for us <yikes>

However, he's been at the club for six years in January and that is his only good season to date! sure, he's had purple patches here and there but they are far and wide apart IMO. If he could be more consistent and less 'rugby approach' then I wouldn't mind him so much. Despite that though, I'm not convinced he is a BR player which is the main reason I think he and Coates will be the first to go out of our CB's.

I think Tony Pulis once said (when he in charge at Stoke) that we would press our defenders but wouldn't press Skrtel because he felt he was the weakest on the ball.

Therefore, he knew would still continue to play from the back, regardless, so he made sure that Skrtel was the only outball for Reina to pass to.

  6. He said it on BT Sport earlier this season when we were playing Stoke. They pressed everyone but Skrtel with the intention of pressurising the player receiving the ball from Martin as they know he was as good as the others.
