The fact is we have a location issue. Foreign players want to live in the sunshine or if they come to England they want to live in London because it's the capital. The only other way to attract them is by spending LARGE. The only way City attract big name foreign players is by paying their clubs and the players themselves shedloads more than they are worth. Fergie largely signed up and coming foreign players and local big name players like Rio and Rooney. How many foreign players considered to be at the top of their game did he sign? Veron? Some may argue RVN. The Scandanavians and Dutch seem less obsessed with the sunshine and bright lights, perhaps that's why Liverpool and United have had a few of them over the years!
United have made a £28m joint bid for Everton's Leighton Baines & Marouane Fellaini, which has been quickly rejected. [men] #MUFC
Yeah just seen that the BBC are reporting it as well. Thought for a moment it was one of Matth's twitter stories. Been rejected. No doubt Utd will up asap.
You guess wrong. Kenwright would be hoisted from the roof of the main stand if he sold at that sort of level, at this point in the window. They're WORTH at least £38-40m, but we have no need to sell, therefore you're going to have to over pay if you want them, £35m isn't even their market value.
Not sure about Fellaini. He could be a key squad player if we decided to change our system mid match if we are hitting a brick wall. But I cannot see him fitting in as a regular starter. Baines will be a top replacement for Evra. And his free kicks will be a bonus.
I think we should give them their asking price if Everton were to ask £38-40 million. The key is to get the players we want and not to do a Wenger and quibble about a few millions and lose out..
Fellaini is a very good player. He can hassle, win the ball, be the focal point at the front, score. Not sure he is would fit in the United system though.
Didn't they reject a bid if 15m for Baines so they arguably want 20 for him and Fellaini is so important to their play and they realise how desperate you are now having missed out on all other targets so 30 odd mil for him. Think 28mil is WAY under what Everton will want. Million miles short.
I think they would want more than Fellaini alleged buy out of 25m and would want closer to 30. I think 40-45m for the pair should do it though. Something to talk about on a Monday morning though
Given your derisory & quite insulting bid, I hope we tell you to get ****ed at any price personally. Moyes is taking the piss here, he valued Baines @ £20m+ himself last summer & he berated City for their tapping up of Lescott a few years back at the arse end of the window. Poor form from our former manager here, disappointed in him tbh as he's disrespecting us over this
What more do you expect from manure? Their fans complain about low balling bids for rooney, but when they do it, it's all fine...
United are in a relatively good position. Unlike Wenger, Moyes is not under that great pressure to buy. His current squad are the champions and won by a long margin. Even if we assume that City and the Chavs have improved their squad significantly, we should be there challenging anyway. we have already added Zaha and he looks a great prospect. The likes of Kagawa and Cleverley have got more experience of hard premiership matches now. Anderson acts as back up. Young, Valencia and Nani (?) are in the wings. If we identify Fellaini as a great addition (and Fabregas was always a long shot), then we should get him...at 30m if necessary. United thought RVP was needed and got him at a high price. Many pundits thought Ferguson was mad... When success brings hundreds of millions, it seems stupid to quibble about a few millions (Wenger wouldn't agree here)...
