I tried to put a realistic list of players together. They're all lads who for one reason or another 'could potentially' fancy a move to us. Each one has played for a club in close proximity to us, each one is out of favour where they are.

I've seen quite a bit of Blackstock and I really like him. McDonald I've never seen. However, his exploits whilst on loan at the Gills last season were enough for me to take a punt.

I wholeheartedly agree with you on the loan front. Any forwards you particularly fancy Ponders...?

Franco, sorry but I think your mate is wrong - Crawley paid £70,000 for Tubbs because Salisbury had just been relegated from BSP, they paid £250,000 for Bodin (spelling) at the start of the 2010-11 season but he wanted to go back tup North so he is on a season's loan to a BSP club.

You're right AllHell... He got his forwards mixed up. Richard Brodie was the one who cost them a quarter of a million from York. Don't worry i have slapped him for feeding me misinformation <laugh>.

Personally,i'd prefer Ryan Lowe, and as we'd have toy big fee to Crawley for a player who may or may not succeed at league one level, I'll pass. The rumour seems to be gathering strength however, so I guess we'll have to see wha Crawley have to say!

I'd prefer Benno to just about all these players mentioned.

Cody Macdonald has youth on his side though - a loan with a view to buy would be ideal...

Yeah Nath... I think this could be a case of wires crossed. I mentioned Brodie earlier cos i thought the 250k Crawley paid for him was actually Tubbs. BRODIE IS NOT JOINING US.

Sorry to confuse things even further but didn't Super Pards once want Brodie when he was at York, But we ended up getting Fleetwood??

There has to be very little chance of Brodie joining us. Was one of Crawleys highest earners but left due to home sickness from up North. Not Matt Tubbs standard thats for sure!

Kish I do believe that is true. If I remember correctly we were after the two of them and ended up getting Fleetwood, who we were after all summer, and whom then played in a few pre-season games and never featured again. Also, if I'm not mistaken, weren't we still after Brodie for a bit whilst after Benson?

Recall this too, remember some of us weighing up who would be the better of the two.

Did anyone else here attend the Welling pre-season game where Luke Varney and Stuart Fleetwood lined up together up front? Think we won 1-0 with the only goal coming from a Luke Varney strike (set up by a cheeky back-heel from Fleetwood). Fleetwood really impressed me in that game...up until he ran from the halfway lined to the opposing goal, one on one with the keeper and ran the ball straight into the keepers arms <doh>

Does anyone else think that we would be better off buying a target man - if we do indeed buy another striker? The likes of Tubbs, Jackson and McDonald would be nice - as would Cureton - but perhaps a big man like Zola or Marvin Morgan would add something to our attacking options.

I do believe that in some circles, that Benno is considered a target man! Perhaps he is our missing link? A target man who scores goals :)

No, no, no. You surely jest with me, Kish? Benson needs to leave tomorrow before he stinks the place out.

I am not an advocate of hoof-ball but sometimes it pays off to get it forward to someone who can wreak physical havoc and disrupt the defence at set pieces. Hayes can do that to some extent, but if he is suspended, injured or off form, who will take his place?

Benno is not that man. Not in a million years!
