The 'show' is going to be an on-the-pitch re-enactment of "The Battle Of Little Bighorn", with NUFC playing the role of the US cavalry and Arsenal playing the victorious 'Native American' Indians.

The grand finale will be when Pardew himself (playing the role of Custer) finally meets his end in the centre circle (with 52,000 Toon fans joining in the ranks of the Indians to make the numbers appear more realistic to actual events).

    Another intelligent quote from Pards:

"We've got a good record against Arsenal at home, and we take that into the game so we'll be in good confidence."

Great, that's really good to know. So, that record against Arsenal at home...

    2011/12: Drew 0-0
    2010/11: Drew 4-4
    2010/11: Lost 0-4 (LC)
    2008/09: Lost 1-3
    2007/08: Drew 1-1
    2006/07: Drew 0-0
    2005/06: Won 1-0
    2004/05: Lost 0-1
    2003/04: Drew 0-0
    2002/03: Drew 1-1
    2001/02: Drew 1-1 (FAC)
    2001/02: Lost 0-2
    2000/01: Drew 0-0
    1999/00: Won 4-2
    1998/99: Drew 1-1
    1997/98: Lost 0-1
    1996/97: Lost 1-2

    Amazing!

That was quite a game. 0-4 down and almost got three points out of it.

A repeat if that one would certainly do me. Sadly, I fear an embarrassing defeat.

Every time Pardew promises things, we all know how they turn out. Not optimistic about this game at all.

To be honest he can promise what he wants. Arsenal have a better xi, a better squad, a better head to head record, better form, more to play for, better manager. Basically him saying he wants our players to have a go and give back to the fans is only right but it won't make a jot of difference. They are streets ahead and on all known evidence should beat us comfortably. Its not like its something we can say afterwards "well so much for the show". The smart money says we would get tonked even if we'd had a good season as team and manager. Just reality.

But should he go and run his mouth off like that? It's not the first time he's done so. It may not be the first time having done so, the opposite and worse happens.
I'm pretty sick of him spouting crap at every pre-game and post-game already, on-field problems aside.

We know they're likely to beat us comfortably, but do you really need to add something to motivate Arsenal for the game? Keep this **** internal if u want to put us a show. I don't want to hear what comes out of Pardew's silly mouth. I want to see it on the pitch. Show us, don't run your mouth off.

Think there's going to be some hostility from the crowd towards Pardew tomorrow?

He'd be criticised if he said nothing at all or cautious too though. What would you propose he say when he asked what he expects from the game at the weekend? "Well its going to be really tough, I expect to get beat" or "We'll give it a go but they're a strong outfit". Folk would just be saying to the first that he's defeatist and giving up prior to a game, the 2nd would be met with saying he's getting his excuses in early. If he turned down interviews altogether the vultures would circle and the game would be derailed by a side show. Its what's on the pitch that matters and it hasn't been good enough which he has acknowledged.

I think it comes down to how much emphasis you place on what's said in the media and how things are interpreted. I just see a manager trying to cajole his players into giving it everything they have to get a result. He hasn't changed in terms of media from last season and no one was commenting so readily on his comments then and finding hidden meanings. Indeed most commended him on his dealings with the media. Now we are struggling and he has had a poor season personally, everything goes to the opposite end of the scale with the fans. It was the same last week when expressing relief. Our fans go way overboard for me. When its good, you're a god, when its bad, you're the devil. We're a bit unbalanced through passion.

There will be if we are 2 or 3 goals down, don't see that happening though.

Almost certainly unless they are distracted by the unlikely prospect of us managing to win.

When we win 3-1, I hope all the anti Pardew brigade will line up along Gallowgate and lace one another in the bollocks until all and sundry can sing " There's only one Alan Pardew " in unison sounding like an all girls choir. Then.....and only then will Pardew, Warm Pouch and myself consider them suitably chastised for their lack of faith and foolish behaviour.

I predict an early Arsenal goal and a Newcastle equaliser in the 94th minute, followed shortly by me driving into the Thames
