Thats not true, we pay more fuel tax because the Gov are greedy ****wits. We paid ridiculous taxes before global warming was even mentioned.

Its the Yanks, Chinese and Indians that are pumping all the crap into the atmosphere, not us.

Indeed it is the Yanks, Chinese and Indians doing most of the Carbon Dioxide dumping, but the genral public in the UK dont really believe the Government and the message that the world will end because of global warming, thus "green taxes" havent really come to fruition.

The air in our atmosphere has roughly 0.04% of carbon dioxide. There is 21% of oxygen and 78% of it is nitrogen.....so its hardly as bad as people make it out to be....allthough it is on the rise, but at a very slow rate.

Actually the biggest contributors to 'greenhouse gases' in the atmosphere are our bovine friends. Cattle pump more methane into the atmosphere from their arses than any other source...<yikes>

The warmer air that we get from the Carribean (thus making ours a very temperate climate) is linked (as are most predominant winds) with the ocean currents. Ours is currently missing due to the melting ice from the North Pole pushing everything south.

The amazon has absorbed 50% more CO2 and has helped keep levels down. The North polar ice cap has melted faster than the South one which has delayed rising water levels (the north cap is floating ice whereas the south is island based).

The change itself is not so alarming but the speed of change is. Sure the caps melt periodically (although I think we're actually overdue for an ice age).

I think one thing that appears to be overlooked is the increased levels of cloud that a hotter global climate would create (thus providing a bit of a shield of reflectivity).

One thing that I'd like to see statistics on is the wind - it seems to be significantly worse than when I was younger and that will be directly linked to the energy in the ecosystem.

I also don't particularly see that govenments are trying to milk us for taxes since so many are against emission targets (at the expense of their economic progress). Maybe the government are covering it up so effectively that the likes of David Attenborough or New Scientist have been "got" and are spouting the government's propaganda.

I don't have kids and don't want them so I guess it doesn't matter if I bury my head in the sand or whether I'm right or wrong but I'm a little surprised that Flyer is the only one that seems to be speaking reason (interspersed with anecdotes about a phantom farter).

Tip, where in the States are you? Hope you're keeping away from the fires.

It's 33 here in H-town (don't ask....!) which is a little chillier than the back end of last week (which was more like the 38-39 degree range)

I'm also kinda surprised that Flyer seems to be one of the very few talking sense about Global Warming....

Well hopefully my £10 Green Tax that I'm paying on my next flight will put a stop to this global warming business.

It's on petrol as well, which is why Labour introduced the 'accelerator' raising fuel duty by double inflation. They also put a 'climate change' levy on all businesses back in 1998 I believe and that is a real stealth tax that's netted them billions. It was even levied on school's gas and electric bills as they are classed as businesses yet many had inherited hopelessly energy inefficient buildings under Local Management delegated responsibilities and have had to fund most improvements at the expense of education resources. The school I was responsible for actually did well to reduce costs by 20% in a couple of years...

No! This wet, windy summer is due to the Jet stream being too far south. The ice melts and then freezes....always has....always will. The solar events that have been mentioned are also playing their part.

ha...I just read a lot into it as I dont like to be tricked or told things by the government or scientist that work for the government that arent true.....or somewhat bend the truth.

As long as we dont get too much snow so our games arent called off, ive come to terms with this countrys rubbish weather!

Nope, hes angry about the taxes so thus has a need to deny global warming exists.

Global warming and taxes are 2 separate things. You can believe in global warming and still think the taxes are a con.

Im not angry about the taxes because of global warming, we pay too much taxes in this country for many reasons.....global warming is happening....I didnt deny that....its gone up by 0.4 degrees since the 70's/80's.

My point was its way too hyped up and people blame any bit of unusual weather on it, when the reality is that it is a naturally occuring event that doesnt really threaten the human population.
