Being serious for a moment, how the hell was that ground allowed to be open? I know it's the late 80s, but a grass bank terrace? That ground was open and staging league football a year before Hillsborough.

I was at that one. Just watching the sliders though. There were police at the bottom arresting people as they landed.

Scum away , Scott Sellars iirc got the winner. Sunday k.o. Game should not have been played and only went ahead as it was on ITV. Lakes all over the pitch.Terry Butcher may have been the manager?? Got soaked, and got left behind as I was waiting for a burger, when the coaches started moving along by the Police. Had to walk over the Redheugh Bridge (another soaking)to Gateshead interchange for the bus home to C.L.S. Worst football day of my life

I'd say Stoke last year for me that was biblical. I did chuckle to myself yesterday when about 2 mins in a steward walked to his stool picked it up and poured a gallon of water of it then proceed to sit down on it and get soaked for about 2 hours. At least we had the match to distract us that poor bastard had to stare at the crowd all afternoon.
I thought that game was just bloody freezing more than wet.

I was at that one. Soaked to the skin and freezing cold. I felt ill by the end and we went down to try and leave early but I almost blacked out so the stewards insisted I got checked over by St Johns ambulance before I left. By the time they'd checked me over and said I could leave, all the Sunderland fans had left.

Had to walk down and get a Metro to Heworth (lived in Washington at the time). It was full of barcodes. A normal train full of our lot overtook the Metro and all the animals were banging on the windows and hurling abuse. I didn't dare speak or make eye contact with anyone and just looked at my shoes for the whole journey!
