Brilliant or too clever for its own good?
In 1973 you knew that Yul was bad but you sort of felt sorry for him so wanted him to do ok.
This was a crazy mixed up story that was just too much effort to keep up with!
Another series coming apparently. Not holding my breath for that one.

We watched first two or three...to slow burning and rambling....gave up....was it worth it in the end?

I've not watched the final episode of the series yet, but was close to giving up as too slow and padded out, but the last two episodes I've seen have sated my curiosity to see out the run.

I quite like the way the humans are shown as the villains of the piece, playing God to the lives of their creations, who in turn are developing a consciousness and rebelling.

Of course, final episodes are usually monumental let-downs, so bracing myself for that.

Curious on your take once you've watched.

I've downloaded the first two episodes but I haven't got around to watching them yet. Going by the comments on this thread I might not bother.

I did watch a great show a few weeks ago though called 'The Night Of' starring Riz Ahmed and John Turturro.

Storyline
Naz is a strait-laced Pakistani-American student who is off to a must-attend party on a Friday night. His only available transportation being his father's taxi cab, Naz sets off into Manhattan. But his party-going plans are quickly forgotten when a mysterious young woman jumps aboard in need of a ride. Charmed by her intense intrigue and good looks, Naz gets swept up by her pressures. After a mind-altering night of drugs and passion, the woman is dead, and Naz finds himself in the crosshairs of a gruesome murder investigation, panicked and shaken, but possibly with a trace of doubt as to his own innocence.

The Night Of is excellent, well worth watching.

Superb series and an absolute must watch.

These violent delights have violent ends.

TV recommendations are a minefield but I finished it off Monday and thought it was an excellent end to an excellent series. Wrapped up most of the mini-stories and set it up nicely for season two.

The AI Event Horizon seems to be increasingly popular with screen writers - Person Of Interest, The 100, Ex Machina off the top of my head - and they all come at it differently. In Westworld the hosts' "awakening" is against the backdrop of endless violence and bloody death and rebirth over decades. Maybe this renders many scenes a bit samey but it works as it should. You sympathise with the hosts and deplore the soft depravity of many of the guests. There's a particularly poignant scene where Thandie Newton is leaning up against the bar with Back to Black tinkling out of the auto piano...."I died a hundred times, you go back to her and I go back to black".

It's really well thought out and, like Kilburn says, while the big story unfolds there's enough subplots to keep you interested.

I'm not a huge fan of Anthony Hopkins but he hits a fantastic tone of world-weary menace throughout and the scene where he
is walking through the room of decommissioned hosts while Bernard commits suicide to order in the background is one of the most chilling I've ever seen.

Recommended.

Thanks 9s, just finished bingeing on Trapped, so was looking for the next one to watch. Trapped may not appeal to all as it is a slow burn. Having recently returned from a visit to Iceland, the setting made sense and spotting familiar scenery in Reykjavik was an added plus. Liking a bit of Nordic

Not sure if you ever get any Aussie dramas; Hyde and Seek was one worth watching this year

I've just finished watching it RTID. I may have a different view once I've slept on it, but currently I'm thinking that it was either extremely clever or possibly a huge pile of ****. I'm really not sure which it is.
