    Ellers is right for once. We got poorer attendances at home for QPR in the 70s and 80s (generally 10k less);
than Fulham, West Ham, Arsenal etc because they brought very few fans and it was not as big a game for us as the other derbies.
PS Like your new link DL.

On this link you can see we got gates of 17k-24k for QPR games. But generally 30k plus for Fulham.

And a few more for Arsenal, Spurs, United, Pool

The only way you can judge a club is attendances for their big games. The Chelsea figures are exaggerated by media outlets (namely The Mirror) as we are clearly the 5th most supported club of all time (on average).

We are called gloryhunters and plastics (as City soon will be) but our match going fanbase is nowhere near what it was in the 50s/60s/70s when we won pretty much nothing. Go back to the 30s/40s and it's even lower. The same is true of Spurs. Compare that to Arsenal who after about 15 years of relative success are now pulling in crowds way above what they averaged in their entire history.

As much as I give United a lot of stick, their genuine fans are amongst the most loyal there are. Even when they were playing 2nd fiddle to the Scouse clubs, they still pulled in significantly larger gates. City averaged more than most PL Clubs when when they were in the 3rd tier.

DL once again you come up 'trumps' thanks for the chart. <ok>
It would have been the 93 game and as i said it was in the 20K (26K). I always thought it was 1-0 but now i have seen that chart it does bring back memories. It was very cold and quite near xmas and we made a day of it. I remember that we were going out after and didn't wear a jacket and froze my 'nuts' off.
You would know better than me but i thought either Ian Wright or Alan Smith scored for the gooners.
It was easy in those days to get tickets from those make shift work huts in the 'shed end'. <ok>

Our home support dipped in the 80s after years of failure but our away support was superb, better than Leeds West Ham newcastle.

Only United Celtic rangers took more and probably Liverpool

It was pretty embarrassing, bearing in mind we took 40k to Wembley for the FA Cup Final. No excuses for that

LF You would know better than me but all support dipped in the 80s, it wasn't just failure on the pitch it was Hooliganism as well. There was once a time Michael Caine and Hollywood stars came to the Bridge, those days wer long gone bar the 80s. Not to mention Bates pushed out an entire generation.

Our away support was top notch though. It's a shame these days clubs are only judged on home numbers.

Jokes aside i really didn't know about the Cov game.
And this is not comparing (because you have had better gates than us) but i can't honestly remember us getting 8K for a home game in top flight (i maybe wrong but i'm sure we didn't).

So i guess what i said is true we can all get embarrassing support sometimes.

Fair play to Stretford they were still getting crowds well over 50,000 when they were relegated in 1974

Spot on Ellers. Apart from United I don't know of any club that hasn't got one embarrassing attendance.

    Yeah :(

    Agree Cym. <ok>

Guys, just read the first page of this thread and I've got to say, it is pretty poor. For the European Champions to be obsessing over a lower-table small Club, is worrying.

At least DL is always on hand to talk a bit of common sense.

Best of luck for the season guys, after tomorrow of course!

It was tongue in cheek, and it's also very hypocritical of an R to call us obsessed!

Believe me mate, it makes me cringe every time I hear a fan of ours going on about Chelsea. No disrespect to you boys but I couldn't care less about Chelsea any more than I do any other Club. I was delighted to see you win the CL last year as I would any other British Club.

How good does the boy Hazard look in the flesh? He looks very handy on TV.

Fair enough. I have some good mates who are QPR fans so I share a similar view on your club, but it's great banter when we match up. Unfortunately they do detest Chelsea, I only hate the QPR fans who see us as 'the big game'!

I only saw him at the Community Sheild game where he was fairly good! Definitely a distinctive player on the ball, very eye catching.
