They won’t want to loan him to a top 6 club for obvious reasons, and Premier League experience is more important than any other league. So which club would be more suitable?
They’re saying Broja man of the match then great stuff. Me thinks we need to break the bank and get this fella if we can. Any info come in re new owners? Or are they pipe dreams?
Great result against a good team! Let’s put some context into the season so far… 20 pts from 18 games 1.111 pts per game Over 38 games = 42.22 pts 42 pts in prev seasons would have finished us: 2018/19 - 11th 2019/20 - 14th 2020/21 - 15th We’ve got a good, young, developing squad. We’re playing some exciting football (remember the Puel/ Pellegrino days?!). Yes Ralph and the players all make mistakes and are poor at times. If they weren’t, then they probably wouldn’t be at a club of our level. The bed-wetters can keep their spare pyjamas dry for another couple of weeks. I love my club, come rain or shine. I also love Christmas. I’m off for another glass of vino! Big love and happy Christmas to the Saints and all you lovely not606 people!
Whisper it, but did we see different system from Ralph in that game? It seemed to me that apart from the first few minutes, we were playing a deeper 4-1-4-1, with Oriel playing deeper than he has been. JWP and Ely playing central right and left respectively in front of him and the fullbacks regularly underlapping their respective wingers. It felt like we were much less likely to be overrun when West Ham broke at pace, but also we were not pressing their back line as much as we usually do.
A 20m loan to take out ? Or 20m of the loan already taken out ? I don’t see us further leveraging ourselves
I have to say that I've never been Fraser's biggest fan but obviously I'm delighted when he's done well. The home crowd have treated him poorly at times. Similarly with Redmond who I've always hoped would do well but have been on the point of giving up with him. To hear that he's worked hard to protect the win is good news as he can be one to disappear when the going gets tough. He seems to suffer from a lack of confidence more than the others. Great result, it makes such a difference going into the Spurs game.
It strikes me that it is very difficult to shut up shop against a really good side that is chucking everything, including the kitchen sink at you.
Even if he was - they have spent 100m on Lukaku. He will get at least the rest of this season and next before they give up on that idea
West Ham are a good side these days, and exactly the sort of team we've traditionally done quite poorly against. Anyway I don't care how many goals we let in as long as we score one more!
Both were very good to be honest. If I was being extra-harsh, my negatives would be Romeu & bednarek. They seemed to give the ball away a lot today, and invited pressure onto ourselves. But all in all it’s harsh to criticise after such a magnificent result. If we go on and beat Newcastle now that will cap off a great festive period
Which though? They will want him to be starting in the premier league - which he will in I don’t think they get much value in him playing a few europa league games. And they aren’t going to loan him to a premier league club who plays in the champions league So unless a top division European club in the champions league want him there aren’t many options. And would experience in (most likely) 8 UCL games and a different division be what they want ? I mean if Dortmund want him to replace Haaland then obviously her goes there. But how many others? I’d just expect they would value the week in week out premier league experience more at this stage.
The clear and obvious difference against West Ham (and Palace) was that we’ve stopped the ridiculous hell-for-leather tempo and pressing of before. Means that we can last the full 90.
A great win indeed! My nerves weren’t helped by feckin Saintsplayer going down just after Antonio equalised. When I’d rebooted the system and got back in, it was 2-2 (WTF?) Then came Jan’s goal and I thought “uh oh”, but the boys dug deep, harried the Hammers and pushed their attacks wide. SO good to see us getting a huge 3 points, especially at a ground where we struggle. Very pleased for Ralph and the team. Broja MOTM definitely, closely followed by Salisu. Great performance from Kyle, Nathan and super defensive performance from Theo. Oriel solid as ever and JWP slightly freer. Really good news to see Stu and Che on towards the end and big Fraser stayed solid when required. We’re still too easily bullied at the back and prone to the occasional brain fart, but it’s a massive result. I’m a very contented saints supporter tonight …..
