West Ham vs Manchester United Matchday Thread

Discussion in 'Manchester United' started by Nomak, Apr 16, 2013.

  1. Can't quite believe some of you are saying the last few games will be nervy. Your thirteen points clear with five games to go, six for Man City. You can afford to send all your first choice players on holiday now, Man City are never going to close that gap in a million attempts with only eighteen point to play for <doh>

i know we just need 2 more wins but after what happened last season thats why its going to be nervy.

Aston Villa is a must win game now. No more slip ups before the big games against Arsenal and Chelsea

  3. If you get to the Swansea game having not wrapped it up I'll understand fans getting nervous, at the minute it is ridiculous. This season doesn't even come close to last season, was you ever thirteen points ahead last year? Never mind with five/six games to go.

I should add (although I probably don't need to) that I'd love to see the deficit overturned and Man City pip you guys again <laugh>

I still think we'll win it, but after last season and especially with games against Arsenal/Chelsea coming up, signs of choking are not welcome!

It's true they are not and I'm sure Sir Alex is on top of it.

Well I've had time to calm down, and my thoughts on the match are as is, the goals we conceded I can't really argue with especially the 2nd (worldy), Valencia looked as if he may be starting to get a bit form, Kagawa produced sum fine displays of what we can look forward to after his first season of getting used to the physicality of the league, RVP led the line well, but where was Rooney? This is no disrespect to West Ham but we should dominate that sort of team, Rooney used to run people down, hound them get the ball back, screamer top corner or lay off a superb through ball, listen im not saying sell him or he's past his best, but just not sure where his head is at, and the midfield worries me immensely, I want a player who sees that the game is getting away from them, puts the foot on the ball, crunching tackles, driving into oppositions box. We really don't have a Warrior in there. For me this could be our biggest ever clear out that we have seen under Fergie, and for me it's about time.

    Lost to Chelsea
    Beat Stoke
    Should have lost last night

That's just the last few games

Don't think Fergie is on top of anything

But ye should still win it none the less but ye are making hard work of it atm

One of the reasons that fast food fans like you are constantly disappointed is you are only able to focus on the here and now. Liverpool win a game and suddenly the future's bright. The fact it was a home game to Norwich is overlooked. Liverpool then go to Reading and battle out a goalless draw and reality suddenly sinks in again.

To win the league you have to perform better over 38 games than anyone else. At some points in the season you'll be flying high because the fixtures have been kind to you. At other points you will come up against a trickier fixture schedule. A home game against your nearest title rivals and three away games against teams battling relegation would be considered a tough run by anyone other than a bitter, gloryhunting, moron wallowing in the despair of shattered dreams and a bleak future.

So let's take a closer look at your inisghtful assessment of United's recent run of league form (I'll ignore the Chelsea game as it was in the FA Cup which doesn't count towards league points, you can have that lesson for free).

Against City (h), Stoke (a), Sunderland (a) and West Ham (a) we've accrued 7 points.

Our closest rivals are Manchester City. In their corresponding fixtures ie United (h), Stoke (a), Sunderland (a) and West Ham (a) they accrued 4 points.

And that my drunken, displaced, workshy friend is why Fegie is on top of the league.

Not to mention that when City played those four games they had everything to play for and the title race was wide open. When we played those four we were at least 12-15 points clear with the title practically in the bag. Always better to drop a few points when you can afford to, compared to dropping them when you can't.

Personally I think the turning point in our season was the Real game. Prior to that game we were flying and smashing all comers, undefeated in competitive games for around four months. Seems like the defeat, and the manner of the defeat, has shaken the team a lot. Must be pretty hard to concentrate on cruising to the league title in style when you feel you've been robbed of the chance to compete for the other big prize.

Sir Alex must be clueless .. how dare he take out rooney?
shocking how he even didn't bother to chase the ball back once he lost it leading to the first goal as he was just jogging comfortably .. then allowed Diame to fool him easily at the 2nd goal
he need to sort out his head and find back his old desire and bring old Rooney form back .. the guy need simply to be benched till he find his old from back

    I don't understand the nerves.

West Ham away ordinarily, happy with a draw which we got. City should always beat Wigan at home and they just about did. Do you really see them clawing the gap between now and the end of the season? Really?

I'm a bit nervous, we are not playing well. Seemingly making it hard for ourselves. with a few tough games to play. . West Ham made it hard for us last night an did to us what everton did at the start of the season.

what worries me is we never look like we are going to destroy a team and have no one who you expect to turn them inside out.

I think Rooney is off. . He has been playing in third gear. doesnt seem that interested. The whole team is labouring it.

As to fergie last night I thought he made himself look the c unt everyone thinks he is, he bemoaned how west ham played the game insinuating the ball was in the air alot, we played the same way other than for our legitimate goal and their second was a good goal. then to do a wenger an deny seeing the goal was offside thought he looked a bitter twat and not something I feel personally feel proud about, he should have acknowledged we were lucky and moved on.

RVPs goal was offside we got a point, it's all still in our hands, city face Spurs at the weekend, and I for one think spurs will take something from it as they are challenging for 4th, we play Villa at home, yeh they are doing ok but it's still a home game and should win, that would mean at the least 13 pts clear 16 if city lose. Yeh Rooney was poor, so for me drop him, im not sure what's wrong with him but Fergie won't put up with it, against Villa I would play Valencia, Carrick, Cleverley, Kagawa(if young is fit put Kagawa in for Cleverley) RVP behind Hernandez, that's my thoughts.

They have always been a tough team, nowt new there, and you have to say they where unlucky because of the offside, but your keeper was inspired in the final 10-15 minutes
