I can live with that if he plays Keogh in that lone striker role. Seemed very strong and definitely a presence up front. Lets see what his striking ability is like! I think getting 4 players on the scoresheet will do more for the confidence of our boys than the win itself. Getting 4 players on the scoresheet just screams "team effort", as loud as it can from the rooftops.
I think we had a bit of a habit of that last season. Most teams have one big goalscorer and a few that chip in, but last season we had Becchio, Gradel, Somma, Howson and Snodgrass all majorly contributing, and now we have McCormack and Nunez aswell .
Grayson would have to be a VERY brave man to start with the same 11 who beat Hull (I can't see him leaving both Gradel and Captain Howson out of the team). I think my only change would be Gradel on for Nunez, leave both Howson and Nunez on the bench. Then if Brown has a stinker or gets himself booked depending on the state of play you can bring a decent midfielder on, might also try and confuse the Hammers a bit by swapping one of the front two for Gradel and bringing a fresh Nunez on for the second half. Nunez is a very hot and promising player but he is so right footed and he shouldn't be pushed out on the left. Clayton has been playing too well to be left out and in a 4-4-2 you have to play Brown as he is the only holding man.
Gradel and Snodgrass can both play on their opposite wings because they can use their wrong foot to put crosses in. Working on his left foot should be Nunez's main priority.
we all do. I'm expecting Grayson to put one of the suspended players back in, but I hope not both. I'd expect McCormack off for Howson, or perhaps have gradel on the wing and move Nunez into the middle in place of McCormack. It's a shame that a switch to 4-5-1 will mean McCormack loses out, he's finally starting to show his class.
Or Gradel comes in for Nunez and McCormack moves into the AM position? I think even if we go 4-2-3-1 we shouldn't change the players (except I'm not convinced Nunez is a left winger, too right footed and Gradel and Snodgrass are at least able to use their wrong foot to put crosses in).
I can't see him putting McCormack on the wing though, that's the thing. Why would he do that when he's got Gradel back? I've noticed his formations are often quite rigid with regards to attacking players.
Brown is out with calf problem adam and jonny to start. Will be gd to see how these to play together.
Team news from Paul Dews on Twitter: Gradel and Howson back in. LUFC team: AL, AW, PK, DOD, TL, MG, JH, AC, RS, AK, RMC So Brown and Nunez miss out.
Keogh - McCormack Gradel - Howson - Clayton - Snodgrass White -- O'Dea -- Kisnorbo -- Lees Lonergan Lightweight 4-4-2. Doomed to fail against their midfield; we need to crowd it out. White and Lees will get new arseholes ripped for them and lose the confidence to ever play fullback again. McCormack to grab one. Nunez should be playing if he's fit. West Ham 3-1 Leeds.
