I'd blame the defenders today rather than Wenger, from his side, he needs to go out and buy a world class CB. But overall, it's the defenders fault for not sticking to their man, for most of the half we have been solid, and had a very good solid shape, even the commentators were praising our solidity.
It's not the defenders, in my opinion. The midfielders aren't tracking back properly, especially in Sanchez's case. Cresswell's got all day to pick out people around the box and Carroll's going to trouble anyone when he's running onto those crosses.
For that goal part of the reason for that was we gave the ball away from midfield, and when you do that, it's usually harder to track back quicker, Iwobi had a very bad touch which just made the ball go to our end in a nice way for West Ham and they did it quick, I believe Sanchez was forward when that happened.
It's obvious both are small ball playing cetntrebacks. It's the same issue we used to have with the Vermalen and Koscileny combo. They will get slaughtered by Lukaku (in fact they did already), Ibrahimovic, Lewandowski in fact any BIG powerful centre forward.
Maybe for that one incident, but he's not tracking his man at all. Superb going forward, but you can't afford to have any passengers defensively.
Im not saying these players will score against us EVERY time. Just that Kos/Gabriel cant cope with the more physical approach and style.
Bizarre defending (or lack of defending) by arsenal at the end of the half...and continues this half. Not taking the piss but this is tottenham esque from years gone by. The last 12 minutes of football are in complete contrast to what happened before
This is where I disagree, it's the defensive organisation that catches us most of the time. One of the greatest CBs of all time was Cannavaro, he only stood at 5ft 9in. If a defender reads the game well and is in tune with his team, then he will rarely get caught out. As a team, we still have some way to go.
