Yep, I'm with Ern. I work with people, so I'm exposed to most things, but I'm pretty healthy. I should exercise more, I probably need to put more effort into five a day, but rarely am I ill. But in saying all that, I have a massive hosiptal/surgery hang-up. As soon as I enter one of those buildings, and the false lighting falls upon my face, I feel ill. The thought of it makes me cringe. I'd rather take my chances in the wood than enter the hive of despair that those buildings have become. Don't get ill, because I'm not visiting you!
And in the opinion of Ian dirtbox Duncan Smith who would have our noses to the grindstone to that age.
more of a case of, if you want to catch a train, go to a train station; if you want to catch a 'plane, go to an airport; and if you want to catch a disease, you go to a hospital.
I worked in hospitals for 38 years of my life, that’s over half of my term so far, and I felt the same as you every day!
Nah, you're on your own pal. I mean, I like the winning more games, but I'm a snob and wouldn't want that. Also, I dont fancy our chances of finding another ML.
“a person with an exaggerated respect for high league position or wealth who seeks to associate with their football superiors and looks down on those regarded as footballishly inferior” Everyone needs to watch some real football occasionally to get some perspective Disappointed to be missing the Dorchester v Weymouth local derby tonight I’ll miss Griffin Park, I sometimes forget where I am in the modern identikit premiership stadiums
I'm not comfortable enough with our ownership to even consider relegation an option. We'd flounder like Stoke, not play better football.
There's a more nuanced explanation of "elderly" in this chart: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-51674743 Basically, if you're in your 60s the chance of dying are double that of someone in their 50s, on average. Still only about 4% though, which is pretty low (I'll be 64 this year and according to a dodgy table I found on the internet, my chance of dying this year is around 1.5% anyway). And as you say Fran, it's probably mostly reflecting the higher incidence of poor health in that part of the population. The people most delighted about coronavirus will be the pension funds, who must be rubbing their hands with glee at the thought of the virus decimating the older part of the population
I'm 70 living in The Hague with my Indonesian wife, I have COPD which,as previously mentioned, has much improved. We lead a healthy lifestyle good food plenty of veg. Plenty of exercise, bikes our main transort. I can attest to the benefits of a glass of robust red or crisp white wine with dinner. I moved my Pru pensions into a QROPS (Qualifying Recognised Overseas Pension Scheme). No fund rubbing their hands when I pop me cloggs. One of the major benefits besides having more control of the pension pot investments is that on death the pot passes to my dependants rather than dying with me as a UK annuity would have done. Some on here are already overseas, others considering a move, if their circumstances are such that a QROPS is suitable do get some advice if not already doing so. I have to say the Pru were horribly inefficient in the transfer such that £250 was paid in compensation, bloody frustrating. Stay safe all.
Right enough badge got distracted as did hello Sailorsaint, Fran, Chilcs, big Ern, #1Jas and one or two others. The minds and threads of the elderly do wander. Mods to the rescue the homeless need shelter.
I was referring to a post I had deleted, rather than leave an empty box with a full stop in it. Carry on as you were.
