We really, really do need a result on Saturday now.

The only saving grace migh be that it is on May The Fourth. Hopefully the Force will be with us!

It's strange to think that come 5pm Saturday, with 3 points in the bag we can be 99.9% sure of safety.

I'm trying not to hope too much because it always hurts that much more when the 3 points don't arrive, but if HBA & Colo start then we'll have a decent enough chance.

I even think a 4-4-2 with Shola up top may not be such a bad idea in this game, after all they are a big team and we need a physical presence in both boxes to be fair.

I'd go 4-4-2 so there's no confusion and everyone knows their roles:

    Elliott

    Simpson Taylor Colo, Haidara

    HBA Anita Cabaye, Gouffran

    Shola Cisse

As I've typed that starting line up I can't help but feel there is no reason to hope...jesus I'm in a bad place when it comes to Newcastle United at the moment <laugh>

<laugh> I think most of us are. <ok>

I actually think Pards should let the team pick itself from now on.

Line the whole squad up, tell them we are in the **** and that it really is actually time to properly give 100%. No more talk. Just action. Then ask who actually wants to be part of it. The first eleven to step forward are in. Simple.

I don't even care if it's nine midfielders, with no natural goalie and no striker. So long as we have a 'team' of players that bloody well care and put in a genuine shift to help keep us up.

SHOW US SOME PRIDE AND PASSION!

More than likely. Although he was saying about using more if the 'experience' in the team and the knowledge of those who were here for the last relegation battle.

There are only a few who were here then:

    Raylor = injured. Non starter.
Colo = been injured, may not be fit enough
Saylor = already been in the poor performing team of recent games
Harper = not started in ages, but maybe worth a go ahead of Elliot

    That just leaves......

    .... SHOLA!

The curse of the ex players l fear, coupled with our surrender monkeys, unless we sort ourselves out PDQ and find some real fight, we will get nothing from this game.

I'd start shola over cisse purely because cisse has been poor and peaks late on in games, shops is useless as an impact sub he may aswell start and bring cisse on later as tired centre backs would much rather deal with the static shola than cisse who has excellent movement. Cisse as a sub would be a great move I reckon, he provide a threat as a sub.

shola all the way, the sight of that lazy tosser ambling around st. james's hallowed turf has become woven into the tradition/history of the north east. If we can't stay up with him strolling around picking his nose we might as well not stay up at all.

Shola would stumble round, give fouls away, shout occasionally at the ref and generally embarrass himself as per usual. If he starts AHEAD of Cisse (which will never ever happen) things could get out of hand.

I like Anita but Pardew will never start with him. He will also never drop Jonas. I would go with 4-4-3 with Gouffran - Cisse - Ben Arfa. If we go there to play for a draw we will come away with nothing

Like your thinking. Drop the keeper and play 11 outfield. That'll fox 'em.

I expect Pardew to go with 4-4-2. Harper, Simpson, Colo, Saylor, Haidara, Ben Arfa, Cabaye, Sissoko, Jonas, Cisse, Shola.

I feel Harper upfront could do more damage than Shola!

Honestly though I would prefer the 4-3-3. I feel we would stand much more a chance playing Gouffran - Cisse - Ben Arfa rather than two up top.

We'll just have to wait and see what formation Pards pulls out of the hat, along with the players.

He is still here isn't he?

They're keeping a low profile this week. Should bloody well think so. Hopefully it means they've training properly and have a game plan that will WIN the game.

Is that the result that gets us three points?

    I forget.
