Cabaye's best goalscoring return for NUFC in a season now, they were his 6th and 7th of the season. Here's hoping he reaches double figures by the end of the season.

And that he doesn't score the last few in a different colour top........

We'll need his goals if Mike insists on scoring for the opposition.

Where did Mike Williamson come from? I know have sausage fingers but can't recall typing him in. Lesson learnt, slapped hand.

Sub-consciously everyone here irrationally hates him, clearly. Today at least. Next game I feel we'll all irrationally hate Remy...

His record is fantastic. Best midfielder in the PL alongside Yaya for me this season. 20 games, 7 goals, 4 assists.

    Aye he's gannin!

Great game, great result, great three points.

    Has he been sacked?

United's ascendancy was rewarded with a second goal after 33 minutes when a fine passing move saw Sissoko cross for Remy to force the ball home from close range.

That should have seen the floodgates open but in first half added time a cross from the left was forced in by a combination of Carlton Cole and Williamson with the defender possibly getting the final touch.

It was tough on the visitors and Williamson in particular who had gobbled up the relentless barrage of high balls from Big Sam's masterplan - bringing back all sorts of bad memories for the travelling fans.

That goal gave the home side some unmerited encouragement and there was a big let-off when Cole wasted a good chance in the 56th minute after a cross from the right.

On came the ridiculously bushy-bearded Carroll just after the hour mark and with high balls continuing to be pumped forward the former Magpie blasted over from close range when an equaliser looked certain.

There were further scares for Pardew's side as the Irons piled forward but with substitute Hatem Ben Arfa attempting to catch West Ham on the break a third goal eventually arrived deep into added time.

Ben Arfa was fouled on the edge of the box and up stepped Cabaye to expertly curl a perfect free-kick over the wall that Adrian could only tip onto the post and the ball bounced over the line as Cabaye & Co and the away fans celebrated the three points.

It was great to see Allardyce suffering on the sidelines, muttering significantly more expletives than Pardew's headline-making rant last week.

    Just come across this.

Long-suffering home fans on the Chicken Run brought a chuckle with their chant, "We hate fat Sam more than you" while the spirit of Ant and Dec was conjured up by attempts at starting a chorus of "let's get Remy to rumble" by some toon followers who certainly weren't observing a January "dryathlon"...

Ha ha, that's class. Maybe if this Cabella fella comes in we can carry it on.

My thoughts on the game, please bear with me tho as I live in Oz and got up at 2am to watch it live so my thoughts, whilst I consider myself to have been wide awake at the time (no alcohol either) may be slightly wide of the mark.

I thought we bossed the first half, particularly after our first goal, West Ham offered very little threat to us and their goal was extremely fortunate (for them). 2nd half they obviously got a bit of a lift from the the goal they pulled back on the stroke of half time and I thought they looked quite dangerous for the first 20 mins or so in the second half. The turning point for them for me was the introduction of Carroll. Once he was on the pitch it was long ball all the way....sorry its Fat Sam we're talking about isn't it, he doesn't call it the long ball...it's a long pass ! They still caused us problems but I thought we defended very well as a unit at the back, Tiote was also outstanding for me in that respect. I love the fact that it was Carroll's clumsy centre forward/bearded oaf type challenge that killed their hopes of a point off when Cabaye curled our 3rd in !....AVE IT !

Can't wait for the next game now.....and the mackems of course !

Yes, it would have been terrible if he'd had a blinder and cost us 3 points.

He'll no doubt come out and give us a wave though.
