Can we get better in that would take 15k a week though? That's the gamble, not one of those players listed would accept those wages (as you pointed out) sure there ARE much better players out there but can we get an established premier league goal scorer who never gives up, chases down everything, comes back and defends and generally works his arse off for that £15-20k per week? I don't think so, not proven at any rate. No player is bigger than the club and we obviously don't know what money he is after (if it is money and not just that 3rd year) but surely there has to be some common ground to meet upon. Perhaps with Hughton coming in a fresh face can help straighten it all out, impartial 3rd party kind of thing (impartial to the initial problems which kicked it off) I still wonder how much of this came from Lamberts direction in the first place. If he knew he was off I wouldn't be surprised if he said something that gave Holty a nudge like i'd like to give you a 3rd year and payrise but McNally says you're too old...... We'll probably never know but it makes you wonder sometimes
Agree, it would be good to see Holt stay, but the way he is going about it is disappointing. As I say you could get in say Rhodes on our money, who may work out really well , although it could go the other way!! Also will Holt be as good this season for us or whoever? Its all ifs and buts.
