I was just using the other night as an example of how it should be. Most grounds are ****e nowadays in this country. They still get decent atmospheres at some grounds in Europe. But fans carrying on like they do would have the SAG, stewards, police and some of our our more delicate fans having nervous breakdowns. Standing, shouting, waving large flags about even when nothing has happened! And, gulp, pyrotechnics!
I don't think that's much of a problem any more is it? I don't suspect many people choose to go in the north stand unless they want to sing as there's almost always better seats available in other areas of the stadium anyway.
Are you honestly saying that I did? I was attempting to make the point (and overestimating the perceptive faculties on here) that in London there is a large market for tourists who want to see a PL game. That's why FFC used to have a Neutrals' end in the PL which they no longer need. I have personally used a season pass of someone at Arsenal who never goes to watch them and has zero interest in them, he has two passes at almost all the big PL teams in London, Manchester, Liverpool and Newcastle. These are 'rented out' on a match by match basis to grateful fans of opposing teams or tourists at a profitable rate. This goes on at Spurs, Arsenal, Chelsea etc. Just watch all the Asians taking pics at their home games, ready to show the folks back home. I have no idea how many fans WHU have nor do I give a ****. Thanks.
Last time I was at The Emirates the stewards were escorting Asians into our end like usherettes at the cinemas of old. It's the tourist thing now, see Buck House, watch a show and then take in a ''footie match'' ...... it's the future.
Lowpoint this season was Arsenal at home in the Cup and seeing places in the home ends being filled by folk who looked like this was their first and last English professional game.
I'd seen that before, our last season in the Prem, Arsenal away was one of the fixtures I chose not to attend, same for Anfield & Old Trafford. I'm no elitist but, the tourist quotient at those fixtures was getting ridiculous.
I am an elitist - I support Hull City. Have to say that back in 2008/9 it was another small box ticked when touts were outside our games in London buying and selling. The previous time I'd heard someone at it was March 71 before the Stoke game on the carpark at BP, someone offering me 50p for my 15p ticket. He was a kid from down our street !
Next season our kop will be N1 and N5 With even less vocal supporters. People will be longing for this seasons atmosphere . IDIOT SCHEME.
Sick of ****ing hearing about ****ing West ****ing Ham today. Sky are all over it like they've snuffed it. **** them, **** their old ground, **** their U21s & double **** their dodgy ****ing tax funded **** hole of a new ground. ****s.
It will be "impossible" to recreate the Upton Park atmosphere and make the Olympic Stadium a "fortress", says West Ham manager Slaven Bilic. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/36252537
