Somerset secured a home One-Day Cup quarter-final after a 10-run win over bottom side Sussex at Taunton. Somerset 237 (Abell 106, Archer 5-42) - Sussex 227 for 9 (Groenewald 3-30) Tom Abell's 106 off 117 balls, his first-ever one-day century, rescued the hosts' innings which ended on 237, while Sussex's Jofra Archer took 5-42. But Sussex, who have won just once in the competition, failed to recover from a poor start and regularly lost wickets as two batsmen top-scored with 39. Tim Groenewald took 3-30 for Somerset, while Max Waller had figures of 2-36.

Jack Taylor, the Gloucestershire allrounder, has been passed to resume bowling his offspin by the ECB. Taylor was suspended in June after being found to have an illegal action for the second time in his career. Taylor underwent remedial work after his bowling action was found to exceed 15 degrees. He was re-tested on July 28 and the ban has now been lifted with immediate effect

Defending a target of 176 and with Durham 130 for 5 overnight, they took the visitors' last five wickets for just six runs in 22 balls, to win by 39 runs. It was a truly intriguing 17 minutes of play during which Somerset used the spinning Taunton wicket to devastating effect. Jack Leach, who took five first innings wickets and Roelof van der Merwe were the instigators taking three and two wickets respectively.
