Marcus Trescothick has resigned as Somerset captain after six years in charge. The 40-year-old former England batsman's decision to stand down was "mutually agreed" with the club.
Ex-Australia batsman Chris Rogers will take over in the County Championship, while Jim Allenby will captain the side in limited-overs cricket.
Trescothick said: "It has been a tremendous privilege but now is the right time for change."
The left-handed opener, who made his Somerset debut in 1993, has scored 23,531 first-class runs and played 76 Tests for England between 2000 and 2006.
Somerset chairman Andy Nash said: "He steps down from the captaincy with the same good grace and eloquence with which he inherited it."

Glamorgan have signed Craig Meschede from Somerset on a permanent deal after he was released from his contract at Taunton. He has signed a three-year deal and will report for pre-season training this week.
An allrounder and product of the Somerset academy, Meschede spent the 2015 season on loan at Glamorgan and quickly becoming an integral member of the side in all formats.
He joined Glamorgan in a swop deal with Jim Allenby, who immediately joined Somerset on a three-year deal, with no suggestion at the time that Meschede's move to South Wales would become permanent.

The 2016 campaign is creeping ever nearer and the final planning for Somerset’s pre-season trip to Desert Springs in south east Spain is at an advance stage.
Looking ahead to the trip Matt Maynard, the Director of Cricket said: “Desert Springs gets very little rain and is a good place to go for pre-season. They’ve got some great grass nets there plus an area for fielding. For what we want to achieve in our pre-season, Desert Springs is just ideal.”
Matt went on: “When we went there last season I found it very helpful indeed to get to know everybody and what made them tick. We had some great one to ones over there, so we will be following a very similar pattern this time round

The majority of Somerset’s playing squad made their way to the airport in the early hours of Thursday morning to join up with the bowlers at the Club’s pre-season training camp in Spain.
Jason Kerr took the bowlers out to Desert Springs earlier this week and they were joined yesterday by the rest of their team mates.
Based in Almeria, Desert Springs will be the base for both players and coaching staff until March 18th and ahead of the trip Director of Cricket Matt Maynard said: “Desert Springs gets very little rain and is a good place to go for pre-season. They’ve got some great grass nets there and also an area for fielding. For what we want to achieve in our pre-season Desert Springs is just ideal

Somerset have signed Hampshire all-rounder Yasir Arafat on a season-long loan deal as a non-overseas player.
The 34-year-old ex-Pakistan international made 22 first-team appearances for Hampshire last season.
Arafat, who has a UK passport, returns to Taunton after playing for Somerset in their 2013 Twenty20 campaign.

Could be an important signing this. The pace bowler is available for all Somerset's limited-overs games this summer.

Former Sri Lanka captain Mahela Jayawardene has signed for Somerset.
The 38-year-old, who scored more than 12,000 runs in one-day internationals, will feature in 12 of the county's 14 T20 Blast group games this summer.
It means Somerset boast the World Twenty20's top two all-time run scorers in Jayawardene and Chris Gayle.
"When a player of his experience and class becomes available, you have to snap them up," said the club's director of cricket Matt Maynard.
"Mahela is a batsman of undoubted class who scores his runs all around the wicket. He is a true professional and will have a major influence both on and off the field for us."

A second innings century for Ian Cockbain set up the chance for Gloucestershire to start their 2016 first class season with a win over Durham MCCU, only to be foiled by the visitors’ last wicket pair, who survived five overs at the end of the match to secure a draw.

    Gloucestershire 348-7 dec (Cockbain 84, Roderick 56, Noema-Barnett 55, Phillips 3-45) & 249-2 dec (Cockbain 129*, Dent 56) - Durham MCCU 288 (Macdonell 91, Miles 3-41, Norwell 3-63) & 148-9 (Gibson 64*, Noema-Barnett 2-16, Miles 2-19, Norwell 2-41)

Somerset’s three-day pre-season match against Glamorgan at the SWALEC in Cardiff ended in a draw, with the hosts reaching 195 for seven, chasing 225 for victory.
Afterwards Chris Rogers, who was skippering Somerset for the first time said: “We have got a fair bit out of these three days, although I’m sure that the top order would have liked to have spent a little more time out in the middle. However a few of our guys did get to spend some time out in the middle, and that was good

Essex with 9 1st innings wickets standing trail Gloucestershire by 223 runs at the end of the 1st Day at Chelmsford
    Essex 39 for 1 - Gloucestershire 262 (Roderick 88*, Marshall 51, Porter 4-59, Napier 3-57)

More or less a par score for Gloucestershire - Essex certainly held their catches
