Cazorla was immense today, great to see him back to his best form. He will challenge Ozil for a place in the middle if he keeps this form up. Also Ramsey deserves credit today as he was good all through the game and showed glimpses of the form he had last season. Great to have Kos back, let's hope Gibbs isn't out. Walcott should be back in the squad again soon and with Giroud slotting back into the team we suddenly look a lot stronger. Especially with Welbz finding his scoring touch
I think Debuchy's return may well prove pivotal to our season. It will not only allow Chambers a rest, but also make him available as cover in other positions as and when injuries dictate.
I do think Giroud was really mediocre (again) today. I just can't work the guy out. He shows flashes of real quality like against United but at NO point in the match did our furthest forward player look like scoring or even work the keeper. This seems to be the case all too often against hardworking organised defences. Wellbeck scored and got in goalscoring positions repeatedly, Sanchez is always a threat and Oxo caused more damage in 20 mins. I'm starting to think Giroud is better utilised as a sub.
True. The issue might be at LB though in the immediate future, both Monreal and Gibbs got injured today. Hopefully one of them will be available for Soton.
I disagree massively. Because of West Broms deep defence when we had the ball, Giroud's role wasn't to score, but to provide opportunities for others to with his back to goal. He held the ball up well, allowing us to get further up the field much faster and put pressure on their defence. Plus he essentially took both CBs out of the game as they had to spend so much time trying to win the ball against him. That gave Welbeck and Alexis a lot more time and space to run onto the ball and attack it from deeper.
Sorry mate but that's bulls**t. Hold up play is all well and good but we're not Sam Allardyce era Bolton - we can expect more for our team than a French Kevin Davis. EVERY top team expects their main centreforward to be a genuine goal threat. If I'm wrong about this name me the exceptions? Lewandowski, Huntelarr, Costa, Dzeko, Cavani, Ibrahimovic are examles of the modern target man. - These guys hold the ball up, win area duels and score a lot of goals. We all know Giroud can hold the ball up well but that on its own is not enough.
