You could almost say he's comparable to a potato... Well I suppose at least that firm has better distribution than Bartley anyway
To those of you who keep saying we're brittle... Well we are not, last season we would have gone under after that poor start. This year we're tougher, mentally stronger and perhaps most importantly take it one game at a time, no big highs, no big lows, just keeping fighting as Billy and the boys would have done.
Agreed and Bielsa has learnt to sub sooner. Douglas and Bamford made a big difference. Alioski was a weak link and is no defender but is a good option from the bench.
I think it’s too early to say jamster... it’s largely the same players, we’re in largely the same place as last year, it’s the chasing pack that have been weaker. We totalled s 3-0 lead a couple of week’s back, we’ve let in a bunch of soft goals recently which was our Achilles heel in the second half of last season. We kept knocking on the door last season and produced a few comebacks... 2-0 down at Villa? Will the experience of last year make the players stronger down the stretch with a years further experience under their belts? Hell we all hope so... it won’t be for lack of effort. Problem last year was largely individual errors and what looked like (perhaps caused by) fatigue, mentally/physically.. So let’s hope the players AND the manager (who jacks the pressure up even more when results turn) AND the DOF/owners (who need to provide alternatives the manager can trust this month) have all learnt from last year.
I think we are just slightly better and with s stronger squad than last year. Not by much, but it will be enough.
WOW!!! You really went out your way to try and discredit Nikita in favour of Bamford.............Now you're in a Menage a Trois. Was there a realistic reason you didn't post Bamfords stats. Nikita, score 6.0.........................Bamford, score 7.3 mins played...........45................Mins played..........45 Dribble attempts........1(0).........Dribble attempts....0(0) Big chance miss........1.............Big chance miss....0(0) Touches.....................14...........Touches.................14 Accurate passes........6.............Accurate passes....3 Ground duels won.....3(0).........Ground Duels won..5(3) Aerial Duels won.........2(1).......Aerial Duels won......0(0) Possession lost.........5.............Possession lost.......1 Fouls.........................1.............Fouls.......................3..........was Fouled.....2 Offsides.....................1............Offsides..................1 Clearances................1............Clearances.............2 Tackles......................0............Tackles....................1 Shots on Target.........0............Shots on Target.......1 Shots off Target.........0............Shots off Target.......2 Shots at Corner Flag.0............Shots at Corner Flag........1 Those who give you likes should reconsider after looking at both stats. And the big impact was.........................Where?
Menage a trois? WTF? Clearly never watched the match - or read the stats he presented. Either needs to take his meds or see the doc to get them changed.
My memory is a bit different. I thought he was the calming influence to Jansson's hotheadedness. He didn't fist pump like pontus so was less of a fan favourite but thought he was equally good for us... in an over-worked but very good defence under Monk. Can't recall him getting hammered for pace too much, but it was a few years ago, and i can't remember what i had for breakfast today... Did we play a high line much under monk?... my over-riding memory was of us largely camped in our own penalty box repelling cross after cross, hoping to nick one on the break! He's done well for the baggies too i believe.
I thought Phillip's handled Pereira quite well. He won a couple of soft free kicks off Kalvin but other than that Phillips kept him quiet. I'd love to have Pereira in our team. What a talent.
He did him a couple of times, but was much quieter than when tearing holes in us like he did second half at elland road.
No, you've still got your faculties. We didn't play the high line often, but he was exposed - very exposed - when we did. And you're right about the defensive layering under Monk - 4-2-3-1, with Bartlett almost playing sweeper. He & Pontus were a good double act, and personality-wise, I think you've got the calm v hothead bit right, but it was Monk himself (or was it Pontus?) that commented on the attack/backup relationship that I guess was founded on their personalities/style of play. Overall, he was very good for us in that partnership / Monk setup. I was simply pointing out his weaknesses to illustrate that he would not be a good fit for Bielsaball.
Btw, my mate is a diehard Baggies fan of many decades standing. He's been saying for a while that the Baggies will not go up. Our match did nothing to change his mind. He's normally very even-minded with these things, but absolutely convinced that he's right about promotion this season. No doubt I will get chapter & verse when we go to watch Harrogate Town on Saturday.
Bilic was asked about Pereira and the game, Bilic thought Phillips had done a great job in man marking him. Right from the start the commentary team had acknowledged Phillips job for the day was going to be to nullify Pereira
No, didn’t go out of my way, I looked at the Leeds news now feed after the game. I copied the leading article word for word then provided the link. I posted Bielsa being positive about Nketiah saying he tired their defence first half (personally feel he was being kind and diplomatic) then the rest was all pretty much negative about Nketiah, invisible man was one headline, Twitter was full of negatives, do a search for yourself and stop your silly hatred agenda towards any Leeds player who’s name doesn’t end in a vowel
