Thanks for posting these mate. Obviously we aren’t going to get O’Neil now, or anyone nearly as good as him, but I hope whoever does the interviews for Ainsworth’s replacement sees these clips and understands how a good manager talks and what they look like. It’s simply impossible to imagine Ainsworth doing the prep on the opposition, coming up with imaginative shapes and roles to put into action, getting the players to understand and buy into what is needed, practicing it effectively on the training ground and having the balls to stick with it on the day. Nice one Gary and good luck to you.
I've been fortunate to meet Gary and his wife and kids and he's a top bloke. Very humble and down to earth. Another top bloke is Liam Manning. He's the head coach of Oxford United. He was going to be appointed our head coach until Mick Beale turned up with his spreadsheets. Oxford are currently 2nd in League One and five points clear of the play off contenders.
Noticed the same...not sure how much we can read into this, but there is a strong feeling we are onto the very last chance.
Great posts nines, there's a whole world of difference between O'Neil and Ainsworth. Both obviously love the game but one has a far higher understanding and intellect regarding tactics and play. I believe this is the route we were trying with Beale but that's another story! We all know why Ainsworth was appointed yet nobody can understand why he's still here. There are loads of great footballing brains out there but unfortunately they didn't have a career in the game so will never have a chance to climb further.
Sounds like yet another facet of the debacle that is Mick Beale. Often we berate the board but Beale has a lot to answer for in the current slump.
O'Neil looks to be a good young coach. Really pleased for him following the way Bournemouth treated him.
Yeh, Cheers Nines. Agree Sb, it’s good to see a young coach like O’Neill with a football brain doing what he’s good at. Weird situation with Bournemouth, but he’s objective about it and has moved on - and showing what he can do with his ability to understand the game. Will be interesting to see how he does going forward … best of luck to him, he’s working hard for it. If only we could have a similar coach to work with these band of players. We just don’t seem to be able to interview properly and make the right choices - bloody infuriating. I’m sure a stronger coach could get better from our group.
I am not sure Gareth has remembered we have a match tonight. He said after the match on Saturday we were going to turn it around against Leicester. No mention of WBA. We will forget to turn up...forfeit the match 2 nil....and we will all shout RESULT!
