Why can't I? Did Guly do anything when he came on? He ducked away from one header at the back post, mis placed a good pass opportunity and generalyl did not a lot. Fox was exposed a lot at the back. If you look at my track record, i never bash for no reason. I think they both had shockers, can i have my own opinion? It is time for change, we're not getting any better and think that by January, at this rate we could well be down.
Sorry, but a more prevalent attitude on here is "we were ****ing dreadful". West Brom were clear favourites for that game, so there's no shame in losing it, especially as we played an okay game compared to some of our previous performances and we certainly weren't dreadful. We can be optimistic about almost every home game, and we have three of those coming up this month.
We were impressive defensively many times today, for the first goal there wasn't enough midfield cover, odemwingie got the ball in 10 metres of space 5 metres from the box which is poor to say the least. their second goal was good play. I'm not convinced rodriguez and Lambert works up front. Lambert is too slow and rodriguez too weak in the air to be good as a lone striker although both can be alright at when the midfield supports them. On the positive, Ramirez had a poor game despite some decent defensive work and one good cross, and so we will get much better performances from him than that. I thought the back 5 was decent without too many cock ups a decent improvement although struggled aerially. Luke Shaw made his debut which was a proud moment. Our defensive problems can be fixed with more midfield support. I think if lallana continues to leave the left back exposed he should be dropped as the fullbacks being overexposed has cost us without exaggeration 20 goals this season. I would like this team to start next saturday with specific instructions for lallana to be more defensive as I feel Ramirez is far more effective in the final third and should be given a free role to destroy swansea: -----------Gazza---------- -Clyne--Fonte--Yoshida--Fox ---------Scneiderlin---------- ----Davis-------Lalanna---- --Mayuka-----------Ramirez ----------Lambert-----------
In other news, Les Reed has personally driven back to Southampton to strip Adkins' office ready to move his things in for the morning.
Olly I think you are wrong as I think the baggies are a team much better than you give credit too. We don't have to win every game, but we do need to play with passion and I thought we did that To be positive we have played most of the teams in the top half and not many in the bottom. Although you could argue that they are in the top half as we have given them 3 points
I'm not suggesting them as bankers at all, but we (the fans) are going into them expecting to lose. The trouble is, we (the team) are also doing that it would seem. I just think there needs to be a heck of a lot more positivity. WB have lost their last two games, we could and should see it as an opportunity for a point. Rather than a banker loss.......
Lallana was in the full back position every time west broom came down the left, they clealry targeted Fox, as have other teams this season.
Hugely unfair. Guly tried hard, ran well, made a number of tackles. Mayuka on the other hand was hopeless when he came on.
Regrettably, this is not the first time this sort of quote has been made. That is not meant as a personal criticism - but this form of appeasement for the slow decline of our performances and our continuing inability to defend is killing us. The fact is Adkins selections seems to be more desperate each week.
Gary Neville is talking a lot of sense, would like him to head downstairs and give our players an appraisal of their efforts.
My point was Adkins should have sorted the situation sooner.. I know he has been injured. I dont think he should have played more than 10 minutes at the end.
Haha you're not wrong at all pal, I'm not entirely justifying the result or the performance, we should have done better in the circumstances of the game and we do need to pick up points from games like this in the future. But by the same token I've already seen a stupid amount of people (not necessarily on this forum) saying that it's ridiculous and a disgrace that we should lose to a team like West Brom etc. etc. acting like this was a must-win game when in reality it was always going to be an incredibly tough game. It shouldn't be just accepted to lose a game like this, but really it is not the dreadful result that some people make it to be.
Yeah i didn't really see Mayuka, he made one god awful touch then disappeared. Maybe i was a tad harsh but i hate it when players duck from headers, one of my pet hates, especially him being a big lad. In all fairness they didnt do a lot as we were fannying around with the ball at the back the whole time they were on the pitch.
Woah woah woah, what is Nigel on about. "I've been proud and privileged to manage Southampton and be on this part of the journey with them." ?!
Heap of ****e, beaten by a team that simply wanted it more. We SHOULD NOT play 442 any more - midfield were non-existent in the first half. Playing through teams without options in our midfield can't be done. Drop Lambert too, he was ****e. Our players are better than that and they need to start believing it.
In my line of work, right now, if a company is in this position... I advise that all management are removed and replaced. You can fight for Nigel all you want, but he's now after two excellent years not producing the results needed.
