We are so wasteful in attack it's actually taking the piss. The defence have almost no protection and have been decent
I fear for us in the second half if Nigel doesn't change things, if they score a second they could get a few more
Move Lallana to the center, bring on Mayuka for Ramirez...was pretty optimistic to start Gaston in this one fresh off injury, and it hasn't worked thus far. And yes, we're abysmal in dealing with long balls. It's absolutely shocking the extent to which we turn hopeful hoofs into scoring opportunity.
Fox looks injured to me, playing far too narrow and has two or three steps to get to his man. Gaston does not track back at all and you can hear Davis constantly shouting at him, he needs to be central.
I've been home from work for two mins and in that time the defence have been skinned twice, predictably! And they nearly scored a second, twice!
I did feel we were too light in midfield coming in with the line-up we sent out and still feel like that is the case. We really lacked another body in the middle of the pitch and Mulumbu has just absolutely dominated the game. And once again we are getting overloaded on the left hand side, not for lack of trying from Lallana as he seems to be back a lot but he's just having no effect regardless, they've come inside from that side three or four times and every time he was not even close. Now we're in a tough position because we need to consolidate to stop from conceding again, but still need a strong attacking threat to get back into the game and get a result, hopefully Nigel has the answers!
Well if that's our bad 45 minutes out of the way, and we're only 1-0 down, then things aren't all bad. Against Spurs and Villa we managed to contain it to just the first half, and we were totally different in the second half. So maybe again here...
i actually do not think more/better defenders is the complete answer, our mid-field ,especially down the flanks are hanging our defenders out to dry,fox is constantly having to deal with more than 1 attacking player and for all our attacking flair and control we seem uncomfortable with the ball and give it away so easily.
