This game shows that if Rodgers is given another season by the owners, whoever he brings in as his strikers will build or break his career as a manager.

We are where we are with a very dodgy strike force. Get some quality upfront and we will be better.

 

Why did Gerrard start btw?

 

I hope the owners have the balls to try and bring Klopp in.

 

It's now or never. If we persist with Rodgers next year, Klopp will get taken up by someone. Then when the owners realise after next season of nothing again that Rodgers is no good, it'll be too late.

Sorry but you would be calling for klopps head if he did anything close to what happened to dortmund.

He only lost Goetze and let lewandoski run down his contract and leave for a free to bayern other than that he has actually had money to replace these players but got worse.

Saying Gerrard is a problem doesn't make fans negative.

Gerrard playing well still means he stays 20yards from the CBs, walks for 80mins of the 90 and occasionally sprays the ball out wide. His passing is great, yes. It's the fact that even on one of his good games, our midfield still looks static and don't create anything. Look how deep Coutinho had to come to get the ball to create something. Look how Henderson doesn't get anywhere near as involved in a match when Gerrard plays. Skrtel and Lovren picked up the ball and simply passed it 5yards forward to Gerrard instead of thinking about anything else because he was standing on their toes demanding it. We had Lovren, Skrtel and Gerrard all within our half when the score was 0-0 at 70mins, WBrom had 10 players in their area and only 1 player between them to watch!

Gerrard in our midfield saps the energy from everyone and means there's less midfield runners going up top to support the forwards because they're back with Gerrard which then means you have three forwards trying to do something against 10 players.

I am a huge Gerrard fan and always have been.
I am a huge believer that he does not help our team in any way when he starts, no matter how 'well' he is deemed to have played, because our formations and style of playing is all about movement, pressing and speed - Gerrard has none of that and so needs others to cover it. He is an impact sub at best and should have been all season.
His reputation is being destroyed by Rodgers - which angers me.

Despite my comments on Gerrard, my single biggest issue in this game is that Borini should have come on to play alongside Balotelli, not instead of him. I personally would have taken Gerrard off for that because of reasons stated above, but other more sentimental fans would have taken someone else of. That's fine, it's what opinions are for and why this board is interesting. However, we needed two up top to change this game around imo and Rodgers didn't do that.

 

Not really, that's hardly what he did last year he just knows how to do enough to get a result against you's.

 

Lovren had a good game

 

I believe he and Sakho can be a good partnership next season - not writing him off yet.

Nah, he knows how to stop us getting a result. Big difference.

There's a reason he's never finished in the top half of the PL or won a trophy. It's because his ambitions are limited to hanging on to a draw against any top half side in the league at home. We were there to be got at today, and throughout the season really, but Pulis didn't even bother attacking us. He had one of England's most promising attacking talents, a striker, practically playing as a full back on the edge of his own box defending for 90 minutes.

 

Hassle? In that case might as well not challenge for 4th, I might who needs the hassle of a CL games? Let's play the youth teams in the cups so we go out round one and an finish a solid mid table next year
