I still say there is a good goalscorer in Cullen. You all may scoff but he knows where the goal is. I know Nigel Pearson rated him very highly and I am sure Nick Barmby does. Ian Dowie also. Say what you like about Pearson and Dowie but they are each well qualified to spot a goodun!
He has scored in every Reserve or behind doors game he has played in since he has been back with City. Lets hope if he comes on as a sub at some point he can score for the first team if only just to prove some people wrong.
Tbf to Cullen he has a good finish on him, but i think his head has being turned. He is one of the most cocky and arrogant people i am afraid i have ever spoken to, in complete contrast to Danny East who he tends to go out with.
Cullen just cant hack it at this level. He may score in close door friendlies and nondescript reserve games against other sides' youth teams, but when asked the question at this level he just cant hack it. I would love to be proven wrong tonight if he got a chance, but I dont think he will even feature on the bench in all honesty.
... and of course, the Premier League! Some will say that he has already had enough chances and been shown wanting. Over the last couple of years we haven't exactly been awash with goals from any source. How many times has he come on with us cruising and no pressure for a quick goal? Ever? He needs a good run at league level. It didn't happen at Bury mostly through injuries but a loan would seem to be the only way that will happen at the moment (barring injuries...). Several of the kids who got their chances at the end of the Premiership run have failed to deliver to any degree: Atkinson, Devitt, Cooper, Cullen, Cairney. Just not good enough or symptoms of some other factors (coaching, money, bad influences...)? On the subject of loans, Sonny Bradley seems to be impressing at Aldershot. A possible solution for cover at CB in the not too distant future. http://www.shotsweb.co.uk/mb/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=29998&p=331345&hilit=bradley#p331345 http://www.shotsweb.co.uk/mb/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=29990&p=331328&hilit=bradley#p331328 http://www.shotsweb.co.uk/mb/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=29959&p=330864&hilit=bradley#p330864
That is spot on. Cullen wears his bling and waltzes around like he's King Dick. A proper arrogant little ****. Danny East is a really pleasant, down to earth lad. He shows respect to others whereas Cullen looks at people like they are the dogger on the bottom of his shoe. Cullen could do with less twittering and buying garish jewellery and take a leaf out of young Mr Easts book on how to conduct himself.
This brings us back to the topic of "how professional footballers should conduct themself off the pitch". Personally I couldn't care less whether Danny East is more pleasant than Mark Cullen! In terms of what I have seen of them both, East wasn't too impressive against Crawley but it was his first competitive start since Macclesfield so we cant judge him just yet. Would like to see him loaned out. As for Cullen, you cannot knock his goalscoring record in the reserves, however from what I have seen of him I don't think he will cut it unless he becomes stronger on the ball or plays off a 'big target man'.
There you probably have it. The same has been often said about Cairney. They seem to both be up their own arses. They really need to consider whether they really are as good as they think they are and nuckle down to doing what they are supposed to be good at. Cairney has always had an attitude problem that manifests itself for all to see on the pitch. He clearly thinks that once he loses the ball in possession, all he has to do is stand there with his hands on his hips moaning at other players, instead of going after the ball to try to retrieve it.How anyone can say that Cullen hasnt been given an opportunity beats me. He has been loaned out five times (I think Im right in saying) and has not done it with any great aclaim at any of these lower league clubs. He has had chances at this club but everytime he is given an opportunity he fails miserabely. Like I said, I would love him to prove me wrong but I dont think that there is a hope in hells chance. Not till he gets his attitude sorted out anyway.
He's only been loaned out twice, once to Bradford and once to Bury(where he was injured early on and barely played), but I've not much sign of him ever making the grade. It's ironic that the only goal he's scored in a total of 28 league appearances, was in the Premier League.
McKenna seems to think that we have no "big time charlies" in our squad... http://www.hullcityafc.net/page/NewsDetail/0,,10338~2619576,00.html I've never met them, so cannot comment but PM spends more time with them.
I'm not claiming to know Cullen at all. I have, however, been in his company on dozens of occasions and he comes across as a cock. Cairney less so and East and Cooper are spot on. I may be wrong about Cullen but he certainly appears to be up his own arse.
That's strange because he speaks very highly of you As I said, I've never met him so can't form my own opinion, I can only go on what others say
He certainly lives the footballer lifestyle, he tweeted this five minutes ago.. Mark Cullen @Markcullen21 Plumber been and fitted new shower... Time to chill out on the sofa
And I thought all footballers played golf!! He's probably on the sofa playing on his X-Station or Play Box or something
