Are Alex, Oxlade and Chamberlin three different players also?

Can I just say, as an outsider (Sunderland fan) looking at the boards, I completely agree with you PISKIE - fans have short memories. Vermaelen Mertesacker is an excellent pairing at CD IMO.

Regards the bold bit above, our fans are saying sill things like "why didn't we go for [insert any name vaguely linked] but no-one actually knows who we went for and who we didn't - or how long we were after Bendtner (who I am starting to think may be a good signing). Wenger may have been quite clever in loaning us Bendtner as well as he a gyan will be unable to play against you guys at the SoL in February as it is during the ACN!

All in all - best of luck for the season guys - since Wenger took over I have enjoyed watching your football and the way you play - hope you get into that top 4 spot you need (be tough with City, United, Chelsea and Liverpool but hope you can get ahead of Liverpool - don't really like them!!)

    All the best

To many people believe everything in the papers/web of which 99% is completly made up, especially with arsenal who do stuff on the quiet
Basically it's a fact that anything that says "our sources tell us", "we believe" etc etc is made up toss.
Do you know you can phone up the papers and get paid for telling them something? i could easily phone up the sun, tell them i've got a friend that works high up at city, and he told me rooney is thinking about joining them because he sees them overtaking united, and thus a paper story/whole country wide rumour is started.

over the years papers have decreased the amount of people working there (researchers etc etc) but increased the amount the papers print/send out
so this means less to 0 facts/stories are checked, less stories are actually being searched out and more and more are just being made up
Do you really think theres that many transfers, bids etc etc etc to fill say 10 pages in 10 or so papers every day?!

So people read someone making up arsenal have bid a fiver for messi, and then start ranting and telling everyone arsene is cheap and useless arsenal are ruined blah blah blah

Get that beach ball out again when Pool visit you. It'll totally confuse them ;)

BTW is there not a clause in the loan agreement that forbids Bendtner from playing against us when our respective teams meet? <laugh>

    Cheers <ok>

I think clubs like Arsenal are always going to be linked with top players, no matter how spurious that link is. We all know that the papers sell their rags based on fanciful stories, the trouble is as fans, we are easily suckered into it, when the reality is something very different.

I'm more than happy with our signings as (1) we've strengthened in every area needed (2) We've not plunged the club into debt to do so.

I think the 'Wenger out' brigade need a reality check.

p.s. Bendtner is a good player and I think without the pressure of having to perform at Arsenal, he will start to enjoy his game a lot more. I think he could do really well at Sunderland <ok>

Attempting to blow us over, perhaps a dig at the apparently frail nature of the Arsenal players. They may be in for a pleasant surprise <laugh>

I don't what the real reasons are but we could have done a lot better in the market:

    http://www.thenational.ae/sport/football/asamoah-gyan-on-brink-of-leaving-sunderland-for-turkey

I still don't know the reason why it took us very long to 'get rid off' Nasri and Fabregas. It's not like we got more money out of it than if we had sold them in June. Something went very wrong.

But now I have to fully back Arteta and Benayoun for obvisious reasons, I hope as experienced Premier League players they can make their mark on our game straightaway.

I know I shouldn't want to slap Wenger because of unsubstantiated stories like the one above but when they sound as believable as that it is sooo tempting.

Im not sure a lot of these stories are true, and I have seen a lot of people moaning on here about us not signing mata, my understanding was that mata was on 120k a week at valencia (I know how the hell can club in huge debt afford this), but arsenals wage structure only goes up to 90 - 100k. Thats a 30k a week drop, plus add in the higher tax rate in the uk and it would work out even more of a drop, realistically very few players would take this sort of drop.

Therefore I think all the fans calling for world class signings need to get a grip on reality, and stop blaming wenger, unless the board are prepared to up the wage cap there is nothing wenger can do to attract these type of players

  18. Good point Enigma.

The board are banking on the onset of the FFP rules. TBH I don't see it making much of a difference to clubs like Man Utd. With a reported 110m profit, they clearly fall within the guidelines AFAIK. WHy we haven't followed that model is a mystery except perhaps to think that our board are either keeping money back to boost the value of the balance sheet because Kroenke wants to sell his shares or that we are holding back the cash for some big buy(s) in January. If it's the former, the load of them should be chased off the face of the earth. If it's the latter, then well, I hope we land our man( men).

    Cheers
