When you read an article like this there really is no point in arguing because you just end up wasting your energy talking to someone who knows nothing about football or arsenal or wenger. If people just stop commenting then he will have nobody to argue with and will inevitably have to keep his ridiculous thoughts to himself.

I'm not looking for a tit for tat argument. I'm asking you where Wenger admitted he got it wrong.

The players were changed in the summer. The tactics and formation are the same as at the start of the seaon, the change is that the players have gelled as a team. It was always going to take time for them to settle, given that they were thrown in at the deep end because of injuries. Which is what most of us were saying at the time when you were calling to 'get that **** of a manager out of our club'

  5. This is why it is difficult to argue with you Piskie - you don't know much about the game. Which of the below would you disagree with (they are the major changes to Wenger's approach):

    - A plethora of signings on deadline day - all 26 or above. One approaching 30, and another over 30.
    - The signing of a tall centre back to deal with the arial threat of the PL
    - An approach that now takes account of the opposition. He has said before that he only worries about his team. Now he is looking at the strengths of the opponents. He admitted as much himself when he replaced Mertesacker vs. WBA.
    - A change in the set up the full backs - they are now in much better positions ahead of the centre backs instead of playing deeper than them (simple coaching that has been applied defensively at last)
    - The back line is playing 10 yards deeper - and have all but negated the simple long ball over the top that was killing us
    - A midfield that is playing closer to the back line - stopping the opposing '#10' picking the ball up and threading balls through (another problem for us over teh last few years)
    - A change to the approach when we are winning games - with a focus on not conceding instead of going for more goals. If they come they come, but we are no longer leaving ourselves open at the back in a crazy offensive effort to get the 3rd or 4th goal. Wenger has said this himself
    - offloading players that he had faith in for so long (and was wrong) - Denilson, Bendtner, Eboue.
    - the sale of Nasri and Fabregas - players he stated clearly were staying. he finally realised that it was a pointless effort, and in doing so created a mad dash to strengthen the team on deadline day.

Basically the entire defensive set up has changed - and not surprisingly we are doing better defensively. Going forward we are not as strong, but Wenger has finally brought balance to the team by mixing experience and youth, and not sending his team out to get crucified on the counter (as he so shockingly did vs. Man Utd).

Interestingly, by letting go of the want away players and dead beats that he clung to for so long, he has also created a much better team spirit - something that has been sadly lacking. Thsi was by luck more than judgement - but still very welcome.

By the way I did not say he admitted he got it wrong - I said he accepted it (you changed the words again). Anyone with even an ounce of football knowledge can see the changes that he ha smade.

Basically those changes you outlined were made in the summer, your call to 'get that **** of a manager out our club' was made in the autumn.

Wenger has never said that he got it wrong and changed 180 degrees, simply because he hasn't.

Of course he will tweak and adapt as we go along, but the set up is the same as it was at the start of the season.

But well done Jay for ruining a light-hearted thread.

Piskie - You might as well close it now.

  8. The deadline day was the end of August and a few games into the season and after the 8-2 <ok>
The changes I refer to were most definitely made post that result. Sorry but even you cant argue against historical fact.

"Set up is the same as at the start of the season" <doh>

I am hoping Wenger made the changes quickly enough and that we can recover from the mess at the start of the season - if not he has to go.

Luckily for you, the quote you made a while back - 'Wenger admitted that he got it wrong' is no longer accessible in the archive, nevertheless, I think it's already been proved that you contradict yourself and spout off knee jerk nonsene, then change your tune to suit your own flawed arguments.

It's very transparent Jayram, pretty much everyone on here sees that <ok>
