He gave me the £15m to find out from Carr who he had in the pipeline to play for us.

I totally agree with his point on the Jan window, but until the rules are changed for EVERY TEAM it's a little bit academic.

Somehow I doubt he'd be blurting it out if he was unveiling 5 new players.

We barely did any business in the summer and have been one of the lowest spenders over recent years, so what difference does it make?

Personally I think we've given an unfair advantage to the teams we've played first half of the season by waiting until now to strengthen our squad.

I don't know what his problem is. He could sign players if he wanted, apparently his board won't stop him, he's just become obsessed with being stingy. Honestly, it's like an IRL episode of special1tv.

Arsenne will be hyper ventilating now we've signed Sissoko, <laugh>

He'd be better off keeping his own counsel! <ok>

An Arsenal fan talking lots of sense.

    http://highbury-house.com/2013/01/2...is-set-to-sign-a-brightn-cheerful-day-ahead/?

Biggest hint yet that a defensive midfielder is set to sign? A Bright’n Cheerful day ahead?
    Morning all…

I read that Wenger is moaning about what Alan Pardew has done in this transfer window and the fact that only a few clubs will have to face his new rejuvenated side. Funny enough, we are one of them.

I don’t recall him saying that we were also one of the fortunate ones to have faced them when they had more injuries than Diaby has had in his career…. And that’s saying something.

Ok, Newcastle sit in a ‘nasty’ place in the Premier League and they needed to make a few signings but, what they have done to date is pretty darn good in my view.

    Moussa Sissoko

    Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa

    Massadio Haidara

    Yoan Gouffran

    Mathieu Debuchy

Instead of moaning, why didn’t Wenger go and sign one or two of the players that have now joined Newcastle?

How many of us would have been chuffed to see at least two of the above sign for us?

How many of the players Pardew has signed would have NOT improved our squad?

How many would have broken the AFC PLC Bank??

Seriously, OUR club has missed out.

Talking of Newcastle, they were dumped out of the FA Cup by Brighton, our opposition for today. I watched a lot of that game and Brighton were on the top of their game. They never let Newcastle settle, they harried the opposition players, closed them down and were prepared to work from start to finish in order to progress into the next round.

I can’t think of the last time I watched us play and thought that about our side.

No doubt some will suggest we did that at Swansea, I’d beg to differ….

But if Wenger wants to come away from Sussex with a victory, he is going to have to ensure the team puts in that kind of effort today, otherwise we will go out of the FA Cup.

Squad news for today’s 3pm kick off.

Vermaelen, Arteta, Coquelin, Fabianski and Gervinho are all missing. Frimpong has gone on loan to Fulham for the rest of the season so he won’t feature today either.

Maybe the departure of Frimpong is the biggest indication that Wenger is ready to sign a defence minded midfielder? It certainly should be….

He’s only got five days left to bring in a couple of players this transfer window.

I’m beginning to doubt he will though…

Good luck to the guys today, Captain Jack to show us the way?

    Have a good day all…..

look at it this way guys.

you know your doing something right when a wenger starts moaning ,the press are quiet instead of writeing crap about yous and dying for yous to fail.. etc houllier etc.

but if yous look around the arsenal boards i think they have sussed him out .

saying hes just happy to collect his 7m a year ( i think ) wages .

and hes just cashing in, signing nobody . he s not bothered .the gooners are very frustrated at the moment about this window lol...

I get what he is saying to be honest and don't take offence because he mentions us. Those are the current rules though and I can't see it changing. I see little point in moaning about something that won't change. My preference would be for squads to be sorted prior to the start of the season never mind the end of August and a January transfer window. I just think it would have a positive effect on the ridiculous money being lavished around the game. I think it levels the playing field but more importantly stops teams employing a high risk strategy to get out of trouble which I personally think is unhealthy.
